More like one hour and a sunburn! Damn it was hot today..

I needed to see what this baby was made of, and OH MY GOD, I've never had a camera with latitude!! What a joy!!!!

Would love feedback!! This is my first RED camera and first time exporting/ccing, so the more the merrier!!

Sorry for unstable shots, I was using my old cartoni focus.. It's made for a 12 lb cam..

Thanks!!

Looks great! Well done! You seem to have an Epic with clean 2K. Lucky! Quite a few Epics have extremely noisy 2K.

Thanks David.. The camera is AMAZING.. It was a real pleasure to finally have the time to push the red button without being on a job.. Cant wait for the other bits and that little playback feature... ;-)

looked great, good job! nothing like images of the beach and people having fun.

keep shooting!

No, it's not a difference camera by camera, it's a difference in shooting conditions. Check out Mark Toia's 2k 300FPS footage from the beach.

I have to agree with Jim on this. Our first night we shot some 300fp, had no decent lighting, had to crank up the ISO quite a bit and hardly had any noise at all. The next day we tried the same thing at our office and there was a lot of noise. However, I do believe this camera by far has less noise than others...

Thanks Dino, your sooooo right.. I still can't believe the latitude with this baby.. If you watch the video again, being able to see the orange of the coast guard helicopter is EXTREME! That blows me away.. A BRIGHT as HECK sky, and a dark orange helicopter.. Unbelievable.. Also, the store on the beach with the tilt up.. Being able to read every sign, and every detail, clouds.... No moraying on the lattice.. amazing..

Hi Joshua,

What were the lighting conditions at your office that you saw the noise? Also, I noticed A LOT of noise until I black balanced again..

Justin

Looks like you had a blast shooting that - the latitude is indeed impressive.

As for the tripod...I'm in a similar boat with a sachtler!

Except for the sun burn hahahah... What tripod are you going to get?

I'm not sure...I've been really happy with the Sachtler except for the weight limitations, so I may just live with it until I make the move to an OConnor.

What do you mean by this? I encountered and issue on a shoot last week. We were rolling 300 fps of girls in the ocean, jumping around in the waves. Transcoded out to 444 Pro Res. I noticed the images for the most part were very clean, but occasionally we would get some weird pixelated noise in the mid-tones of the face that would last for a few seconds. Shooting at the least amount of compression possible too. I figured they were still working things out or could have been a Red Rocket error? hmm, need more testing

Great shots Justin. I love how these Epic beach shots seem to have more latitude than my own eyes.

Thanks Justin.. You are so right about it looking like what your eyes see.. I kept checking the exposure saying to myself "there is no way this is right" but it was... I really can't wait to shoot more!

I didn't realize there was a forum for footage, sorry.. Not sure if one of the admins can move it or not?

The subtle interplay of shading between water and sky in the helicopter shot was pretty amazing too. Nice shots all around.

I was very happy with the way the EPIC performed, especially being my first time shooting with it exterior.. Quite simple to use, intuitive touch screen, which makes life sooooo nice.. My only question is what do I do when my touch screen decides to take a crap on a job and I don't have the REDmote? I would like some sort of back up hardwire for those "oh shit" days..
