  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- Scarlet Upgrade Program

If we go with the scarlet to epic-x dragon upgrade, will our orders be filled only after epic-x dragon orders are all filled, or will we be in the same mix?
 
I feel like you could maybe get $4-5K out of your Scarlet MX brain after transfer fees, so the only way the math works for a new Scarlet Dragon is if it is $4-5K more than the $9.5K upgrade price at the very least.

Maybe there will be a reduction on a new Epic MX brain, as that seems vastly overpriced when you compare it to what Epic Dragon brings to the table for $24K.

Funny thing is, when you consider the price/performance vs. competitors' offerings, Epic X appears to be vastly UNDERpriced already.
 
Anyone knows if sensor size wise (angle of view if you prefer) a 5K frame on DRAGON is more or less equivalent to 4K on MX or is it a bit of a wider surface coverage?
A question for Phil Holland I guess...
 
is the scarlet upgrade to epic available right away? i guess that is a trade-in anyway (bring in your scarlet, pay 9500, go home with epic).....correct?
and in a couple of months upgrade to epic dragon for 9500....epic dragon won't really be available for a couple of months anyway since all upgrades are first in line?

+10! Yes, What are the framerate Differences between the Epic-X and Scarlet Dragon. I personally would want better frame-rate options, but cant find ANY details on what the possibilities are of the Dragon other than 60FPS at Highest Resolution! Someone has the answer! Lets hear it!

Scarlet Dragon 5K should be around 25mm and 4K M-X is around 22.5mm.

Dragon vs Mysterium-X until this time Red always complained about tests done by others im sure they gonna do best detailed sensor test ever on this :)
 
What is the upgrade path for future sensor upgrades if you choose the Scarlet Dragon upgrade? Is it a dead end, or will we continuelly be able to upgrade?
 
So let me get this straight... 18 months ago I couldn't afford the $24,000 difference from Scarlet to Epic, so I ordered a Scarlet. After shooting my first feature, making extra income in rental for a year plus my gain in experience, RED are saying I can get the Epic for only $9500?

This is cooler than time travel.
 
Will the lowest compression ratios be the same at all the framerate/resolution combos that are the same between EpicD and ScarletD?
 
Please let me get in!!! I have always wanted a Epic, I worked so hard for my Scarlet but have always wanted the best name for a Camera. Epic Please let this happen
 
I'm extremely excited about all of the news, especially this! I cant wait for the full specs of the Scarlet Dragon so we can compare, but it sounds like the Scarlet D may be the best option for me right now.
 
I can't seem to find or figure out how the upgrades are going to be processed. Does serial number have any bearing at all or is it first come first served?
