  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- Scarlet Upgrade Program

You don't need the Motion mount for Dragon & the Motion mount will work for all the cameras...Jarred said if your doing low light shooting you will need to remove and put a normal mount (PL/EF/Nikon) on the camera b/c the built in ND even when on the lowest setting kills your exposure by a stop.

U B spreadin' bad info

yes you need..motion mount is not normal mount

@ Brandon & William............... Thanks for clarification Canon Mount would be great (phew)......

However still need the "motion mount' I believe for Dragon.

@ Peter No not insane....... the 'motion mount' has been designed for Dragon so you're suggesting going for dragon without REds version of a global shutter . Sounds like Porsche with training wheels. & until someone clarifies you dont need it with Dragon, it would be unwise to think otherwise

FYI...Jarred says Motion Mount is, just that "a mount".

Take it off and use another mount if you are in super low light. It's not an actual global shutter but it can replicate the results of what a GS does, eliminating skew/jello...if you want that ability and the added plus of internal ND than buy the Motion Mount...if not, buy all the other mounts...modular system, beauty of RED.

No other camera on the market has global shutter why would you NOT use the dragon without global shutter? Alexa, Sony f65, Red Epic-x, none of them had global shutter and that's not stopping anyone from using them. So NO you do not need the motion mount. You can have it if you care to reduce some of the CMOS shutter problems, that's it

i meant you need Motion mount its a seperate product not coming as a default with Epic..you have to buy it later..

yes it's a separate product but you don't NEED it to shoot footage. It's an optional product designed to limit some of the drawbacks of rolling shutter on a CMOS sensor. But you in no way whatsoever NEED it to happily use the Dragon and shoot films with it

@ Peter ............thanks for the link

P.S. F65 mechanical shutter....sweet camera .....really like the look of "Oblivion"

Anyway back to Dragon.......how much record time will 64 GB card hold @ 6K ?

Argh... So no 6k at all? What about Anamorphic modes or WS modes? 6k WS a 24-25 even? Still no word on the price of a new Scarlet-Dragon brain?
