  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- RED MOTION MOUNT

Thanks Phil... this whole discussion today made me go back and read the whole Motion Mount thread. It starts with Jarred saying 8x and so my path started by searching on what 8x meant. Ultimately, it seemed, as with aperture, the 8 was actually 1/8th the light or 3 stops. But if the overall range is 10 stops, then that would be impressive. I guess it still begs to ask, "Why the 8x designation?"

I know this might be a stretch, but do you guys think red might have an upgrade path to the motion mounts? I love my titanum mounts and would rather not have to figure out a way to sell them rather just upgrade. Jarred any thoughts? You've guys have already done so much for all you users and wouldn't want to add more :-).

You'll want to keep that mount for low light situations.
 
Has anyone asked if it will be possible to do an "exposure pull" - like an iris pull for going from interior to exterior or when speed ramping, only done via an adjustment to the electronically created ND?

Could it be possible with a firmware update in the future, if not right away?

sure would be handy...

Yes it can.. and if you are using the RED WMD lens control system, you can even use the hand controler to pull that iris.

Thanks, Jarred. That's great.

Am I correct in assuming that there will be a way to have the mount automatically pull the ND level to directly match a speed ramp through communication with the brain? If that's the case, it will really simplify the execution of those kinds of shots.

Timelapses will also benefit if they can automate a gradual lightening or darkening.
 
I would love to see your product road map some day Jarred. So excited for all the new products you guys have coming down the line :-). Keep it up.

+1 indeed. PL mount isnt of much use to me but motion mount sure is!
