  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yeah I hear ya... but I think there will be such an easy workflow for those who want to do high quality work, but this is a workflow we are yet to have full working - still nothing can get around people who cut corners - and misunderstand the cost of those cuts

Mike

Hey Mike, what iso did you use when shooting this night footage?

Hey Mike,

What are you currently doing for most shoots? Transcoding to pro-res with redrocket?

Now that FCP X edits R3D natively I have my fingers crossed that FCP X will not be limited to a 4K canvas. That would be an ideal "easy solution".

I feel like a bit of a goose for asking but I didn't realize that it was confirmed that R3D's would edit in FCPX natively? Is this confirmed? Great news if so :). I'm not a FCP user anyhow, but it's good to keep abreast of what is going on :)

I thought I remembered reading that the FCP X demo at NAB didn't actually show any RED footage...

The NAB event was just a tease. :-)

Final specs won't arrive until Apple is ready to unleash it.

But, one can speculate based on some of the hints that they dropped.

I am assuming that fcp x will edit r3d natively :) if reality falls short of my assumption, then I have nobody but apple to blame ;)

Epic powering solutions

Hi Mike,

A quick query about your Epic M package. As the Red Volts are still not available with the package ( do you know when they may be?) how have you attached the Red Bricks to yours? Can you use alternative Lithium Ion batteries... although I know the warranty on the camera may become void if you do so? Last question... is the AC power adapter and Red Power pack charger, 240 volt compatible for use in Australia? Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for that Mark. Wondering about those power spikes people have been talking about? Wrong batteries?

I've been using a range of v-locks and the ac adapter for the last week, since I got my M.
No problems at all. I think it seems to be isolated to just a few bodies. At least that's my guess.

I so tired but happy after spending a week running all over NYC shooting on my new rig.
I can't wait to be able to post some footage. This is an awesome camera... :)

Hey Mark,

That's very reassuring to hear. Love to see your NYC stuff!

Here is a fun clip which explores the question which camera should I use? Shot at Hoover Dam.

I have a couple of VOLTS I have been testing for RED for a while now. They work really well.

Nice stuff Mike. Those Volts make it so much more enjoyable I bet!

Mike, is the sunset shot at 1:32 HDRx? It looks to be so. HDRx seems to have an easily recognizable quality to it...
