  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Incredible...

Well that's an unfair characterization if ever there was one. The cost per lens between the RPPs and the Zeiss Compact Primes is essentially the same (some a bit more, some a bit less), but the set is more expensive because there are more focal lengths available. The RPPs appear quite nice, but I can tell you that the Compact Primes are quite good lenses as well. And unlike any of the other new prime sets out there, the Compact Primes cover FF35, not just Super-35 or 5K.

Ah, my bad. I'm gonna just shut my mouth from now on. Lol.

I think its time for a beer and a render!

And they seem very light, right?
Considerably more than RPPs?

That sounds very nice for the whole Scarlet compact ready-to-go philosophy.

Drinking at home?
You're an alcoholic!

The problem with the ZCP's is that if you go any wider than a 28mm you're talking about a T2.9 or slower depending on the focal range...Much too slow for a prime for my tastes.

I see a lot of scarlet people seem to be after the FF35 over the S35. I'm curious what it is that pushing everyone that way?

Looking at the lens option, it does seem more interesting with the electronic lenses. Is this the key, or is there some requirement within the film community that is driving this preference?

Looking at the lens options, they fit better with what I need.

What was the original prices for bodies if anyone remember? Not that I will hold anyone to it.

Also Jim, you had mentioned in a previous post to the fixed lens that there was a balanced stereo input on the brain, is this for all brains including epic?

The differences between a drunk and an alcoholic? 1/ If you're a drunk you don't have to go to those bloody meetings and 2/ If you're an alcoholic, you have to drink under another name.

Jim, would it be too much to ask when you'll be making the big schedule announcement later this month? It would curtail a lot of the whining and speculation until then.

End of the month. We need as much time as possible to understand what obstacles are left.

Jim

But you wouldn't need the handheld grip if it were attached to a tripod. You could just use the wireless redmote... right?

You need it there so that you can take the camera off of the tripod and shoot portrait. When I have a grip on my stills camera, it stays on. I decide whether I need it for this shoot or not. It's annoying to take off and put on, so I don't.

Cool. Not that'll stop me checking every morning for new renders anyway

This camera configuration is perfect!!!!!.

The cameras brilliant data capture and amazing codec still blows me away to this day, the quality of image it produces still cracks me up when I play it in 4k, the ease and speed in post is just a joke compared to my last 15 years of shooting on film, I cannot say anymore about this amazing system.
This Camera (when it finally comes out) will satisfy me well into my retirement years.

NOT A WORD OF A LIE JIM. The second you release the FF35 EPIC as per this render, without hesitation I will buy 3 in a heart beat.

I'm so not into giving out man hugs, (because I'm as straight as a plank of wood) but shit you and your troop are close to getting one.

Congrats again.
