  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IBC - GPU Build REDCINE-X Beta 21

How does RR card fit into all this?

I can confirm that what Les is talking about exists on my Titan as well. There also appears to be a one pixel shift in the x axis between identical still sequence exports and still exports.

Although difficult to see at 100%:

At 400% you can see it for sure:

From my initial observations it doesn't appear to happen everywhere in the frame, but only within certain values that roll to brighter values perhaps? I could be crazy. I'm still doing tests.

Running out a difference pass shows the variation between the versions fairly clearly.

Excellent! Appreciate it.

Thanks for reconfirming my observations Phil.
A casual glace does not reveal the pattern.

Another thing I found: I tried transcoding 400 clips to DPX ( all clips in the Bin ) and it crashed.
When I moved all the clips to the timeline and exported all timeline clips into separate folders, that worked fine.

Sven: I assume you mean there is *no* audio after trim? That's correct, currently audio is removed. We'll get that sorted out somewhat soon.

Hi rob, no there it seems it is audio only but couldnt check cause there is no audio present on the clips i used,
So no image actually at all, maby should put audio unselected in the tab

anyone else having this problem? 12 core mac pro, gtx 680 4gb.

4k footage to prores. exports in resolve fine.

12 core mac pro, 24gb ram, 10.8.4.

Do I need to update my CUDA for this beta?

I noticed with a Quadro 4800 for GUI and Quadro 4000 for CUDA my RCX beta was acting up with odd screen anomalies and no decent playback on short 4K test clips.

Both cards reside in a Mac Pro OS X 10.8.4.

Cheers. I've noticed the crash as well. I've done batches of 20 and 40 clips varying in length to DPX and Quicktime. It seems to barf a bit of the way through and certainly locks up the physical memory. Suspecting a memory leak.

Still sort of testing that out and trying various settings through allocated RAM.

Do you happen to be using Fit Height for these exports?

The tests that crashed last night around 3am were using 5K 2:1 with 5:1 REDCODE cropped to 16x9 via Fit Height, so yes.

Heh. It's like you're a mind reader! I'm taking that as you're seeing this on your side too?

I finally got around to testing this out (OC-d i7 3930, 64gig Ram, GTX 680 4gbs)
Man, does footage fly!

Could you provide some transcoding times? What are you overclocked at? Thanks!

I would also greatly appreciate hearing what fps at what resolutions/quality you're getting with this setup.

My attempt at exporting 400 clips from Bin crashes right away , after it 'loads' the clips ( about 15 seconds) . Not a memory leak in my case. No auto-fit used, but I did tell it to make 1920 sized files. This is for proxies.

Hi Les,

Can you send a saved report to redcinex at red dot com please? You can generate the report from the help menu.

Thanks,
David

I've encountered some errors when doing a 1/2 Premium Debayer in combination with a 1920x1080 downscale to prores 422 while using my Mac Book Pro Retina 15" and have been able to replicate them to a degree. The attached is the initial error from yesterday, when I went to replicate it I got a results that were mostly black the whole way through appart from sometimes the first frame being as attached. The picture stays motionless when it is played.

Edit: Same problem with the downscale removed, no (obvious) problems at full res Debayer or at 1/2 good. Source res at 4k HD and 5k tested.

Ben, same issues here. look one page back.

I'm running a 12 core mac pro, 10.8.4. running a GTX 680 4gb with latest driverse and cuda drivers.

exporting out 4k HD footage at 1/2 good and 1/2 premium to prores 422/444 I get the SAME thing. Any ideas here guys?

Just curious . is that the "flashed" card, or the Mac version?

flashed card but have someone running the same card without an issue

I will say I am using this for rushes this week and I am indeed loving it like sweet, sweet honey. Can't wait to see where this takes us.

Correct, there is a bug with the half premium debayer, now fixed. There are a couple more things we need to tidy up before we put out an update.

Thanks,
David

Cool. So full debayer does work !

Think we we will ever see CDL integration ? I'd love to be able to import CDLs from livegrade into resolve.

Is it any surprise to anyone that I don't seem to be getting any noticeable speed bump on the new RCX with my ATI 5770? Just curious.

I am thinking I'll wait to upgrade my GPU until I find out what the new Mavericks/FCPX combination likes, alongside RCX and Resolve.
