  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

10 Scarlet Questions with Joseph Hutson... Take 2.

I know that you have directors like David Fincher and Ridley Scott who have been asking (and receiving) Epics to shoot their next features on. I'm sure you can't announce anything official, but have you had a similar response from industry people like Aronofsky (who has shot his past two films largely on the 16mm format)? Are there well known directors who are waiting in line to shoot their features primarily on Scarlet?

Sounds great...has the zoom of the fixed Scarlet functioned as a kind of proto-type leading to the eventual Epic electronic zooms...and why so little word of those..is it just that they are still quite far off.

...on a side note...wondering if the parties you throw at your house resemble the Scarlet movie..

Ah...what's the official name for removable lens Scarlet? I've heard several...I was calling it F for fixed and C for Cinema...

Consider this one a bonus question...don't wanna take away from something more important!

edit: I can just see that someone's gonna ask if the c scarlet is for c mount lenses !

David Fincher actually shot his last feature on Red Ones all the way up till a few weeks ago. But to answer your question, There are definitely some big dogs waiting to take delivery of Scarlets and do incredible things with them...

I might be wrong but my understanding was that Full Frame 35mm red sensors was going to be part of the Monstro line (epics only)

Scarlet Removable... but don't get a tattoo of that on your back until you see the box with that name land on your door.

I guess I was wrong for abbreviating the FIXED Scarlet to F-Scarlet and the CINEMA Scarlet to C-Scarlet a few times on the board and on Twitter.

EDIT: Ah. Scarlet Removable now... lol

Is it true that the Canon mount for Epic can be bought to use on the Scarlet Removable (Scarlet Cinema) so that we could control a canon mount Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 ?

There is no more Scarlet FF. Scarlet, for now, is 2/3" cameras.

That's ok...I got my Epic-S tattoo last week though!

I'm more curious about the state of a Nikon mount for Epic, even a non-electronic one.

I guess a lot of people are very curious about this question:

Any news on the default side-module? Have you decided on either CF or SSD? Or will that be a choice left to the costumer (with a premium I presume for the SSD)...?
