  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Tokina Cinema Vista Lenses

Wonder how this 18 compares with Celere

Did they put out any other info about the 18mm at IBC? A specific release date or timeline?
 
Phil and Any Others Who've Used the Tokinas So Far,

What cine zoom lenses would you recommend to match the primes? While the low end would probably be covered by the ATX 16-28MM T3 Mark II and the ATX 11-16mm T3 what about the higher end? I've not heard good things about the 50-150mm and have heard nothing about the ATX 50-135mm T3. I'm really wondering what will match well if you are going outside of Tokinas line-up? Or maybe the 50-135mm is a really solid lense? I've just not heard anything about it or its performance so far. It would be nice to have some fast zooms (like T2.9) that cover broader ranges, say 20/24-70/80mm and something on the high end around 70/80-200+ that match these primes (or at least come close).

I shoot real often with the Zeiss 28-80 T2.9 and the Tokinas.

Thanks for chiming in Phil. I'm sure as these lenses start to see more play/use there will be some other lenses that people feel match well with the Vistas.

I'm guessing you are one of the other 4 people in front of me (in line) for the Tokina Vista 18mm? :) I've got mine pre-ordered through Hot Rod.

I got mine when they were released some time back. That's why I have footage with them.

That said, I'll have an 18mm to test this week. Only skin I got in this game is the 18 (eventually) and 1.6X Expander.
 
I should have been more specific. I'm in line for the 18mm! I thought you might be one of the other 4 in front of me. I'll be looking forward to the results and footage from your test!

I'm testing out the Tokina Cinema Vista 18mm T1.5 with my RED Weapon Dragon 8K VV.

Nice! Even nicer: Duclos is taking deposits for 18mm lenses that have the same MSRP as the 25mm lens! I was afraid the 18mm would cost more.

That's probably a placeholder or possibly an "oops," we both heard that the price would be the same thing initially, but my understanding is that the final price isn't set and that the 18mm will cost more than the 25mm.

Matt's a friend of mine and I'm sure he wouldn't want anyone thinking that's the placeholder price is gospel.

As Illya pointed out, that price is probably a place holder and will probably change. I've heard the price is supposed to be somewhere around $7,500. That's what I've change my budget for now. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if it cost the same as the 18mm but I'm planning for the worst, hoping for the best (with the info I have access to).
 
My lenses arrived today. Absolutely beautiful, already in love with them.

Thanks again for organizing this Phil. And huge props to Duclos who have become one of my new favorite places/sellers. Great customer service.
 
I just wrapped a feature with the 35, 50, 85 playing with the 16-28 and 100mm macro. The Vistas are pretty amazing. They really are beautiful. I loved them.
