yeah im still waiting to see if and when this group buy is happening..

It's Chinese new year so we won't hear from CAME or Movcam until the 18th, unfortunately. But someone posted a few pages back that the test CAME unit is already headed out to a steadicam operator.

I am very interested to see what deal 70 redusers can get on the Avant S from Movcam, though I can't imagine it getting below even half the price.

...I tried to explain it the same way, and was vilified and called an elitist etc, etc, as are all of you. Give up, let the kids do what they want...

Nick
Hmm... I wonder why the "kids" called you an elitist...

I'm interested in the group buy. Southern California, USA. What's the status on this? Will it be $1500 (including shipping?)

Kwan should have received his CAME system (exactly the system we're interested in). Let's try to organize a meeting to review it, if it's OK for Kwan. Maybe in the end of February, so that the other manufacturers can also send in their systems? Any professional steadicam op interested in joining? We could then order the system of choice in early March.

Please always check the first post on this thread for all the information on the group buy!

Edreace, the price for the CAME unit is 1495$ incl. shipment, but the manufacturer promised to refund some money after the deal (not sure why, but lets test the unit first against other products, before we decide on the price). I also asked for quotes from other manufactures. They should be in soon, except MOVcam, since the Chinese New Year just started.

when I get mine (after checking out davids rig)
I plan on doing an overhaul..
I will make the sled my own..
one thing I dont like is how much tubing there is inbetween the gimbal and the arm

Yeah, thats one of the things I plan on doing... got a bunch parts that I built up from my days of romping around on homebuiltstabilizers and seadicamforum-- planned on building my own, but never got around to it.

RIG just in,
I see so many fellas' are going back and forth in this thread (simple mean talkin sh*t and talkin Sh%T back - lol... jus' jokin).

I know there is varieties of ideas, but to answer everyone's question here...I have one as well (Keep in mind, I have never used this version before)

So instead of testing this rig why not just simply battle this rig with other rigs Side BY Side.

I welcome anyone who is interested in the Science of Steadi-cam (lol)

I can be available at Times Square NYC (after 5pm on weekend)

Unless I missed something, there wasn't any footage coming from the camera itself. Watching people operate, jump, and spin the gimble in circles shows you nothing.

In the original post there's two links to preceding threads. You'll find testimonials and a handful of footage videos.

Lets put together a group meeting in late February / early March to review the CAME system, the eeMOV Hawk Ultra Pro, the MOVcam Avant S and the Floatcam FC12. I could organize one in Germany (Berlin or Munich maybe), or you guys meet with Kwan in NY.

If possible, we could do two test... one in the US and one in Germany. I could organize the German one, but it would be nice if someone in the US could organize the other one. Who would take delivery of the MOVcam, Floatcam and eeMov system? You would need to sign something like a rental contract, that you take responsibility for the units.

CamelCam!!!! hahahahaha:lol:

We doing this as a group buy or jerking off?

On the website there are two similar types one for 1300 and tho other one for 1600, which one are you guys quoting.
I would be interested, keep me posted

Cheers,

Jack (Canada)
