  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Gate Flare | Flaregate

I installed mine this morning, very easy & those flaires are a thing of the past. Thanks Red team.

Never had much issue with the flares myself.. Or at least not in a way that I couldn't control them mostly. Maybe it's because I always had similar flares on a couple other cameras and I've just learned to subconsciously adjust for that possibility. Anyway, got the port bushings and installed the first in the EPIC-M. Initial tests look good.

Kudos to RED all around for this one.

We don't need to see the president leaving the white house in a chopper for this one either..... :)

David

Hah! David, I love statements like that one. A hundred people can interpret it a hundred ways and they will all be right.

Just wondering... the litle black piece of metal that he screws back after inserting the bushing is still very shiny.
Does it remove all the flare or just deminish the flaring?

Would love to see comparison between RED's solution and the non official solution.

Brent, do you have any estimates on since when new cameras will be getting a permanent solution? Like all cameras released after February 1st or March 1st or any other timeframe?

I thought it looked a little shiny however it seems to do the trick!

Hi Nathaniel,

You will receive an email from the RED Support team today.

Best Regards,

Just got back from shooting the Rolex 24 race and thank goodness I had the OLPF bushing installed before I left. It was a flare minefield out there, but the bushing worked like a charm.
Thanks to Deenan, Nick and Alan at Red for getting that in there just in time!

If anyone has not received a response from OLPF AT RED DOT COM you will hear from us this week. As you can imagine we have received quite a few emails, so the support team is currently working through the queue as quickly as possible.

Got my despatch notice today, very efficient only emailed last week, though not sure if its coming direct from the States or through RED Europe.

When it is approved and we have units to install :) I will post here when we cut it in so people know they do not need to request the current drop-in version...
