  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Gate Flare | Flaregate

Got my OLPF bushing today, installed it in 10 mins without any issues what-so-ever. Nice. Thanks for finally addressing this issue, RED. Thumbs up!

Never had an issue with flaring so far any ways, but wanted to know since we are about to order more "M" cameras, thanks Brent.

You just need to have a light slightly out of screen & you will see it, play with a small maglight & you will see the issue. FedEx tried to delver the fix today whilst I was on a shoot!
Thanks Red.

Just received my OLPF Port Bushings. Can anyone point me toward the instructions?

You should have gotten those as a PDF in an e-mail from RED.

Here is mine!

Noticed the little tork wrench was slightly tacky which helped keep a grip on it and not potentially drop it on the OLPF. Don't know if this was done intentionally, but if so, that just goes to show the power of the thinking at RED.

Where did you guys order it?

OLPF@Red.com

See here...

We are getting in some of the the user-installable OLPF Port Bushings as we speak so can begin shipping these out as soon as today. This bushing reduces the reported flare issue on EPIC and SCARLET for existing camera owners. If you are interested in this, please email olpf@red.com with your camera serial number and shipping address. Once we get your email, it is will enter the order processing queue and we will reply back with the installation instructions. If after getting the instructions and reviewing them, you would prefer we do the install here at RED for you, no problem - just let us know. The bushing kit and RED installation - both at no charge.

Since it will be asked... For new cameras, we will be addressing the issue with a permanent solution that is an integrated part of the manufacturing process (ie, not user installable).

Mine was goey too! Smelled and felt like oil from a CNC machine. I cleaned it off so I didn't have sticky crappy hands while working around the OLPF. :)

This is a PERFECT fix for the problem. Simple, easy to install. I haven't had a chance to test it yet. Going on the assumption that RED did for now.

But THANKS RED for taking care of this!!

Here is mine!

I've sent emails, PM's... to anyone and everyone at RED... how the hell do you get this thing! My Bomb rep does not have a clue what Im talking about.
Who is this mysterious RED person that is handing these things out...

Or Did only a select few get these things?
Or did all EPIC M and X owners get emails of its existence?

I'm feeling a bit alienated here.. For such a critical camera fix, we all should have been emailed.

So who is secret OLPF Port Bushing dealer...
Anyone got any contact details.

Thanks guys.

Mark, if you are interested in the RED OLPF Port Bushing solution, please send an email to olpf@red.com with your camera serial number(s) and shipping address. Once we receive your email, it will enter the order processing queue and we will reply back with the installation instructions.
