A few weeks back we did a few Dodge commercials that tie in with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens... Shot on Weapon.

Here's the first of the batch.

cool,

So may I ask, how many troopers did you get to have infront of camera / how many where cg?

Looking great! Epic Dragon or Weapon?

Nick, I suggest you first start with the folder I posted in... Next, check the title of the thread... And if you're still confused, try reading the post.

Surprised by ya buddy.

Bjorn, care to venture a guess first?

Ugg, sorry about that. I literally didn't stop to read (or think). My bad!

Serious question though - now that your on Carbon Weapon, are you shooting at LOWEST compression possible? IE 3:1 6K?

Also - what OLPF did you work with?

Thanks so much Chris!

Nice work,

Feels almost kinda "Matrixy" as well, in that clean look kinda way.

I say there were 4 of each type of vehicle at any one time. That's my CG guess.

My guess would be like phil´s: "there is no spoon." Not only that, I got a gut suspicion that there is no streets or even buildings. As the streets are "cleaned out" I´m thinking possibly you even photo mapped the street views and only shot the actors green screen and maybe some plates of cars in studio. As the black car got some reflections that makes me think it´s not rendered and it´s not shot on location. Then the jib down in the end makes me curious as the window reflections keep moving after the jib lands, normal thing to happen on a post stabilised shot but would not really happen if it was all photo mapped.

So not sure whats going on, but looks good all the same. and I guess on me that commercial works. As I now, very concentrated, looked at it at least 15 times over :)

FANTASTIC as always Chris!

David is closest, we had 6 of each white car type and one of the black... thanks for playing all! Many of the shots are all in-camera cars live... End pack shot is live, Bjorn. ;-)

Well, cant be right all the time :)

But am I just imagine or is there not like an excessive motion blur on the guys in the panning shot at 20s. Is that all in camera as well?

I was playing around with retimed camera projections when doing this bike film for my little borther in law a wihle back. And while doing it I got this idea that it would be really cool to use the tech in a car commerical to make a long caravan of cars or coca cola christmas truck commercial and shot one truck with moving camera and then time ofset it and project it back until having an infinite row of cars. I guess then thats what the vfx guys did here with the first 6 cars. https://vimeo.com/78558336

Commercial looks great. Always awesome to get insider information from the community, thanks for the post!

I didn't look at it close enough. I thought there were eight across. :)
