  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic Fan Speed / Sound Algorithms.

pogo pads?

Underneath the grill on the top, there are four unused contacts.

Still no confirmation about Scarlet? Really? I'm starting to think these new fans may require dragon-specific boards or something (which are no longer coming to Scarlet). Like this may not even be for Epic-X but for what "Epic" will become (after Dragon upgrade).

For Adobe Premiere/Production Premium users... jeez... grab 5 seconds of the fan noise and REMOVE it in Audition if it bothers you or your client... it's VERY easy and VERY fast! Again... works like a champ if/when you need it! Love, love, love Adobe!

Curt - any chance of a walk through on this or a pointer to somewhere about this technique? I'm new to CS6 coming from FCP7...

Regards

SK

Love to get a "official" response if this would apply to Scarlet, of course I would love the answer to be yes, but a NO will suffice as I can stop following this thread

Thanks for all the hard work on this one guys.

I'm glad I'm not the ONLY one Mark! I put the camera fan control in manual... for every 2° the temp goes up, I increase the fan speed (manually during a record) by 1%! I've never had to go beyond 40%! EVER! It works like a champ EVERY time... even on LONG interviews!

Wow... How are you doing this manually while the camera is rolling % by %? I can do it in the 5% increments with the red mote but how 1 by 1? thanx

Has RED confirmed/denied Scarlet compatibility?

On one hand it's awesome that they're so busy with NAB (means for a better show), but on the other it's frustrating that they're so busy with NAB (since a simple yes or no question can't get clarified).

Not yet.

However the odds are it will work with the Scarlet. The description of the upgrades seems to lean towards what are effectively accessories or modules that bolt on in specific places, the Scarlet has places for both a front and top fan/grill replacement and there has yet to be an external piece that can be used on one and not the other. In fact the only physical change I can think of that isn't coming to both is the Dragon sensor, and thats because for the foreseeable future RED can't see a way of doing it for a price that makes economic sense for both parities, with a few fan bolt ons that seems unlikely to be an issue. The final thing is that offering the firmware or the firmware and the fans to the scarlet shouldn't affect the balance between the epic and the scarlet.

In short unlike dragon it's hard to come up with a reason it wouldn't (we may not like the dragon reason but it makes sense).

Plus, Jarred didn't even mention a camera model in his OP. So I would assume the update is camera agnostic.
