  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC accessories from ActionProducts

Hey Justin, this looks like a very nice unit. A few questions... When do you anticipate shipping? Can you describe how the red button on the side of the unit functions? I assume the puffer battery take over automatically when the onboard battery dies, is this a correct assumption? Also does the 6pin lemo on the side allow you to run ac power though the electra?

is there a way to use your audio riser system, etc. with the RED quick release plate system?

Coming soon :-)

Oooooo tell me tell me haha! My ideal setup is Action Products audio riser with the 15mm front rods, and XLR out the back, but also I can then snap in the RED's quick release (I like Action Products better than Red's Assault Plate because of teh audio pass through). Wonder how to run 15mm out the back too...so I can attach a shoulder mount

Thats also what i am searching for, how to run 15mm lws from the back...

Hello Everyone!

PRE-ORDER STATUS UPDATE!
- Available first come first serve between end of December 2011- beginning of January 2012

Below are the pre-order packages we offer online in both in North/South America and as well in Europe. Just click on the links to go to the online postings. Also the EPIC and SCARLET have almost the same housing, which means everything we make for the EPIC should work with the SCARLET! Our EPIC Accessories Category is now renamed to EPIC + SCARLET Accessories as everything included in it should work for the SCARLET as well.

EPIC + SCARLET POWER PACKAGES:

Our modular system starts with the
Basic Module “Proteus”: Its main functionality is to provide the modular line up with quick release functionality. The Proteus will run power to the camera while allowing operators to power their REDMOTE through a 5V connector (optional cable to Mini USB and other connectors). There is also an easy access 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, followed by an additional LEMO connector on the bottom that provides 12V power or (optional) a remote adapter to trigger on/off of the camera ("Schmitt" interface). Quick release power solution. Power, Sync, and HD-SDI connections are installed to the bottom EPIC inputs.

Below is how the Basic Module "Proteus" looks by itself. For more details, click the below links.

The Basic Module "Proteus" can have the Battery Module or the Power Module "Electra" directly connected to it... This is to give people the option to buy the whole set up at once or buy just the "Proteus" and the Battery Module, giving the camera basic V-Mount or Anton/Bauer functionality with the ability to grow by adding the "Electra" and other further modules later as needed. This is a modular system that can grow with your production needs.

Below is how the Battery Module looks by itself. For more details click the below links.

If at any point you need more power distribution options, you will need to include the Power Module "Electra" to your set-up. This gives you 12/24 volt power distribution, with battery life LED notifier, and a puffer battery to power the camera and accessories for up to 4 mins between battery changes. Below are the two configurations we sell the "Electra" separately as. The ONLY reason you would buy it separately this way, is if you purchased the "Proteus" separately first and want to upgrade your setup. You NEED the "Proteus" to use the "Electra".

The below "Electra" set-up includes the "Electra" and a quick release plate installed on it so you can attach the Battery Module. You NEED the "Proteus" and Battery Module to make this set-up work. Click on the below links for more details.

The below "Electra" set-up includes the "Electra" and V-Mount or Anton/Bauer Plates installed on it (These plates are NOT quick release like the Battery Module). You would buy this option if you didn't have a need for a more modular Battery Module solution and your needs are met with a non quick release V-Mount or Anton/Bauer Plate. You NEED the "Proteus" to make this set-up work.
Please note that if you purchase the "Electra" configured this way and at any point in the future you want to upgrade to use the Battery Module or other added further modules we develop, you will to replace the battery plate with a quick release plate to extend the setups modularity. Click on the below links for more details.

If you browse our site (innocinema.com in the USA or actionproducts.ch in Switzerland) you will find more configurations to choose from but I only listed these without the specs because the purpose of this post was to try to give you all a better big picture overview of how these modules work together with the ability to add or take away functionality as needed. I hope it helped. If you want to view more detail and specs, click on the listed links for the online product posting. If you want to talk personally on the phone about it to help clear understanding, please feel free to call me in the USA at 1(910)300-9431.

Hi
I remember a photo with your shoulder mount. The Epic was mounted from it's top to a plate to shoulder pad an after that the battery.
Basically "cat on the shoulder" Camera under instead of over. Low center of gravity and the monitor right in front of you. Looked really good.

Can you recommend that set-up?
What components would I buy from you to get a similar configuration?

Thank you

Is it possible to convert the 15mm Rod Mount Audio to just a 15mm Rod Mount if required? For example, when the Pro I/O arrives.

Do the XLR's at the rear just release? How are they wired into the system? Is there a connection in the middle, or do the cables run all the way from the jacks on the front to the XLRs in one piece?

Thanks,

You can use the 15mm rod mount without the audio connectors. The cables run all the way from the XLR to the front in one piece.

Its our "razor" shoulder mount. You can already mount it this way with the Arri Adaptor Plate (if you have a top plate on the camera). However we will be offering a special adapter to make it more easy. It a very good setup if you use the batteries as counterbalance (so its Battery - razor - camera) and if you are fine having the camera shoot at shoulder hight. The amazing thing about the razor is that you can basically use it in any setup variation.

Well I don't have my Epic yet, so I'm planning ahead for all the little tidbits I will eventually need.
1. Top plate. (Any top plate?)
2. Arri Adaptor Plate
3. Razor
4. Battery. (How do I connect it to Razor?)
5. Handles. How do I connect them?

I'm a bit worried about putting pressure on the battery cable running from the camera with your body. Any thoughts on that?

Special adapter sound intriguing, please tell me more.

...sooo...as you seem to be finished with the epic/scarlet electrical accessories, it`s time to move on with the ac raptors - my money is waiting for you, guys... ;)

Brian, Will you make a Tajimi connector to 3 x 3.5 minijack audio interface. Its the common audio standard for audio mixers.

Hi Brian.

Would love it if the Electra would accept Arri style RS momentary run/stop triggers through the 24V port and trigger the Epic's 3.3V run/stop. I know it'd be yet another board to cram in there but it would solve a lot of issues for us...

Hi a couple questions.

1.) I'm thinking of going with the proteus I have a IDX V-Mount batter plate that I would like to mount to it. Is this possible?
2.) I also plan to use the wooden camera Easy Top, do you know if this fits with the proteus?
3.) What direction and side is the HD-SDI BNC adapter on the proteus? If we are using the proteus as the main video out, I would like to make sure it will suffice.

Thanks in Advance

+1 !!!

Remote trigger has gotten really problematic with the Epic. Building a Schmitt trigger into the Electra - so that you can use a dumb trigger (just "short" the wires) would be perfect. If it would cost extra: no problem - I would instantly change my order from Electra to the Electra Trigger.

May I also chime in with several previous posts to ask:

How do batteries attach to RAZOR??
Images appreciated!
I see there is an attachment point at the back of the RAZOR but it is not apparent to me what interface you can mount to this to then attach a battery plate to...
This information is basically all I am waiting for to commit to buying a RAZOR

This may be a stupid simple question, but I'm a little confused between the differences of an arri-standard dovetail and your arri universal adapter. For example, RED's QR system slides on arri-standard dovetails. You sell such dovetails, but you also sell the Arri Universal adapter as I see mounted to your awesome Razor shoulder mount.

Is there a way to slide the RED Quick Release system onto the Arri Universal Plate? Does it work like a dovetail? How can I get the RED QR system onto the Razor?

Would love to basically all your accessories (Elektra, Audio Riser and Rod Mount, Razor), but I also want to incorporate RED's QR System so I can pop it off with Rod's for true handheld, then pop it back on for tripod or shoulder rig (using a dovetail on each, so I can slide the rig between the two).

Thanks for your help and amazing products!

We use the Arri standard - so our dovetail will work just like any Arri dovetail. So yes, you can use RED's QR with our arri universal adapter. To get the Razor on to RED's QR you can either bolt the Razor directly to RED's QR-Platform (bolt-on) or with our Arri adapter slid it on to RED's QR-Platform (Dovetail).
