Guys,

It's been stated many times in this thread that the current RCX does not read Dragon R3D's. Mark has done a lot for us here, on his own time, for free.

Just sayin'

David

I'd love to have some TIFFs though. The wait for Dragon is driving me nuts :willy_nilly:

Mark, you stayed, as we knew you would, true to your word - a hands on user experience - not a clinical bench test. Real world situations that many of us work with every time we pick up our cameras. As you have said, you love to shoot and it shows (always has).

The results you produced in only 48 hours serves this community well. The range of shots and attention to detail by providing the tech specs is exactly what many of us were looking for. Jim chose wisely. Thank you for the time you spent to test, capture and share the images with us.

Personally, I do not need a side by side with an EPIC-X. Or with other cameras. I like what I see and I'm glad I chose to be in line for the upgrade. To say that it's exciting is an understatement.
Effective DR is beyond my expectations. Everything looks so natural - so fluid.

Digital has truly come of age with the Dragon.

Congratulations to everyone at RED that contributed to this achievement.
Jim, you have every reason to be proud.

Looks like Dragon sensor's readout times are much faster than MX, therefore even less of apparent rolling shutter artifacts, obviously Motion Mount will eliminate it completely even in strobe lights scenario. I too noticed richer flesh tones (even strongly underexposed), and that's not even the final color science. That, the forest, the closeups and the track shot reminded me strongly of Vision3 4K scans in similar shooting situation with film LUT, only much much cleaner.

David.

I was thinking to play with them in Resolve. Unless it also cannot manage Dragon's R3Ds. That is why I say "RLF/RC# TIFFs or R3Ds.

Also, does he have a special RC-X?

Cheers,

I think it's up to RED to release the software to the public, not Mark. That is why I am saying Mark has kinda done his part.

Again here. I will venture a guess that Dragon footage is not yet in the SDK so probably not available for use in Resolve or third party apps yet (this is my guess based on the fact that there is a specific RCX build for dragon which is most likely alpha nd for internal testing purposes.

I hope it's coming soon too!

Jim or Jarred stated that the new rcx will be released at the end of August.

David,

I understand your point, and agree with you. However, software is not what we are asking for; it is just a high quality TIFFs. Software without footage is no-good...:willy_nilly:

Cheers!

PS: RCX by the end of August, great!!!

yeah, I hear ya. It would be nice to have some 103mb tiffs to smash around. Patience.

Just saw the test on my 50 Panasonic. It looks amazing. I can't believe ill soon have all this power in a camera that is smaller than my toaster!
to be able to take a camera that rivals 65mm in a small back pack (with room for a couple of lenses and power to spare) is almost beyond comprehension.
Already the some of the shots I got with my Epic would not have been possible with any other camera shooting more than 1080, due to the incredible size and versatility that the DMSC provides.

I mean, we have even stopped using GoPros when shooting BASE jumping with wing suits as the best guys now just straps our Epic to their body when flying

Thank you again RED and Toia

Mark thanks to you Im going to be broke..again!! :)

I would venture to guess that some key partners have an early beta SDK. They often get before the normal SDK goes out. This gives them time to get everything integrated and ready for a September launch. At least implement any additional APIs and new parameters. Then they can simply integrate the official SDK build, re-compile, and push out to partners. For a company like Assimilate, its pretty fast. For someone like Adobe, it may take longer. Then again, they did promise more frequent upgrades as part of their subscription model. Lets see if they can deliver or if they were simply blowing smoke.

A fair guess. I'm glad to know its a September launch. I wonder what will happen first RGIII plays a down in a football game or Dragon is released. :-)
