  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon / Epic / Scarlet Camera Release Build v5.1.34

++1 This would be very useful. Great suggestion Phil.

Truly brilliant idea!!!! That would be MASSIVELY useful. As it is now HDR is (educated) guesswork and mental math that sometimes there is not too much time for on set (after all HDR I think is most used, at least by us, when there is no time to properly tweak lights, so it's always when in a rush) as even RAW view does not seem to actually change when it is turned on.

I would actually like to see the darker track on the viewfinder/LCD. This way I know the other 'brighter' track is getting the darkest shadows because it's boosted in exposure. That's what I use HDPx for.

FEATURE REQUEST: Toggle HDRx Track

Essentially the ability map to a button to display the different "tracks" to change the shutter speed so we can see what's being captured.

On the GUI it would be nice to have an HDRx status stating "HDRx Track A" or "X" when toggling. While I know it's a niche feature, it would be useful for those who use this feature, especially those shooting nature material in the field.

This might be something to also include in the HDRx GUI menu as a item to include.

Thank you.

Phil you are en fuego. Nicely done.

Yes, but having the stoplights and histogram reflect the X-Track exposure would be a tremendous help in reality. Currently it only sees the A-Track exposure and gives you than info. It would be great to quickly swap over to see if you have the appropriate setting with HDRx to cover your desired exposure.

Definitely agree with you on this aspect Phil, even so us I understand how the HDRx works now will always mix nth tracks and the X track is always used to add what track A needs...

Yet for Still Frame pooling it could most definitely come handy were you would actually expose for the X track and not the A track.

Relative mode always displays in angles now and absolute in time. If you want to see the conversion you can see it on the spinner. I don't know what you mean by "sometimes it changes and sometimes it doesn't". What doesn't change? When?

The frame guides are the same in record mode and playback. I'm not sure what you mean about only having two lines. The only difference is if you have look around enabled as we can't show you the look around area in playback as it's not recorded. If you can take a picture of what you are talking about and post it that could help.

Hi trent,

thanks for the reply. Was a little confusing how it was now for me, but i do understand waht you mean. Still would be nice if i had the choice between angle or time in the relative mode, without having to click it, just way more used to time than angle :)

Attached a example of the playback without darkened area around, would be nice if that would the same as in record mode :)

Another question, when the camera suddenly loses power (empty battery for example) during recording the clip becomes corrupt or unplayable. Is this something that will change it future firmware? that it always writes an endfile to each frame or something like that, so when suddenly power is lost, everything till that point will be recorded and being able to playback it?

Max, that mode of viewing can be done with the Look Around function activated.

In builds 4.0.x and earlier we allowed independent settings for angle/time and relative/absolute. This seemed to confuse users more than anything. In addition, we needed a way to show the relative/absolute mode - we used a yellow color. However, the yellow color was inconsistent with yellow for other items in the top bar (e.g. not being able to set the target redcode). Since we have a target integration time as well we should logically use yellow for that. We have tried to remove this confusing by coupling the modes together. Angles, as a unit, are relative in their nature, time is not.

I see what you are saying about the shading in the frame guides. This is not possible to do in playback at the moment since we don't store all the necessary information in the R3D file.

I think his actual complaint is that we don't render the shading outside of the frameguides in playback. This is a valid complaint, but unfortunately we don't store this extra information in the R3D file so it is not available in playback. We will look into possible solutions to make playback more consistent.

yeah trent, that's exaclty what i mean about the frameguides and the darkened area outside. Would be fine if it's not stored in the R3D, but an option in playback view mode to select this, that would also be fine, i think this would be really appreciated :) A solution could be the read out the current setting in the framguide menu of the camera and apply that to the playback mode if the playbacked clip and current frameguide aspect are the same, if not, it doesnt apply the shading?

I get your explanation about the relative angle thing, i think that sound logical, just have to get used to it then, but is actually quite logical :)

- Global rack speed selection
- Up to 4 rack points (A, B, C, D)
- Rack points can be set using Auto Focus or manually entering the focus distance
- The focus distance of each rack point can be shown next to each rack point
- Key Actions: "AF: Rack to A/B/C/D"

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP -HDMI NOT WORKING AFTER UPGRADE

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP -HDMI NOT WORKING AFTER UPGRADE

My hdmi stopped working after I upgraded, I have rolled back to 4.0.18 and it still not working. Couldn't get signal to paralinx for the director's feed today, I don't know how I will survive tomorrow. I upgraded primarily because of Sigma 18-35 support, but right now, I don't mind living without that support to have my hdmi working back. Pls someone help me, done everything I can imagine!!!

Did you try without the Paralinx and into the monitor directly?

Did you make changes to the HDMI setup that you now need to re-apply? Resolution, refresh rate, etc.

Yes I did connect directly to the monitor (even swapping different hdmi cables) and didn't get any signal. Thanks

No, I didn't. Unless you have any suggestion I can try. Thanks
