I've love my Nikon DSLR but the info that the new Nikon 14-24 will not take filters was deal breaker for me, and I've ordered the Canon mount.

What's wrong with using the Nikkor DX 12-24mm f/4 Zoom? It takes 77mm filters, like most of the other Nikkor zooms, and covers the full 4k sensor area.

First phase of processing reservations (making sure all forms are readable) happened yesterday. COnfirmations are starting to go out today. It is a LOT of paper work....

Sounds like response is good to your offer. Have the Nikon orders been greater than you anticipated?

Any chance of moving the release date up?

Does anyone know why Nikon won't be available until March 15? ...why Sigma and FourThirds will be ready before Nikon, even though no one is ordering them?

FourThirds is a consortium of companies; it is all electronic; lenses are remarkably sharp and fast given the smaller image circle. The tooling costs for Sigma and FourThirds are a fraction of those for the Nikon. The Sigma is already working in the lab. PMA in January is when I have access to the bulk of the Sigma and FourThirds lenses, none of which are really available for rental.

I woke up this morning, surprised to see just how many orders have already landed. Approximate stats:
1. 80% Canon
2. 20% Nikon
3. 0% FourThirds
4. 0% Sigma

If the trend continues, and nobody orders the FourThirds or Sigma, we will certainly adjust the delivery date for the Nikon. Vote with a refundable deposit. The more votes we get for Nikon mounts, the more money we are willing to spend on tooling, and the faster this will get done.

Depending on Nikon orders, Birger will adjust the date for delivery. I mean bring it forward.

I am surprised people here are saying they have emailed the form in (one as a jpg)! You NEVER send your credit card number by email. Ever. In any format.

Also concerned about the CVV2 requirement. Your credit card processor will flip if they find out you are storing them, as that is contrary to every merchants agreement.


I will be ordering the Nikon mount today.
