  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Beta Camera Build 3.2.13

I have a couple of minor issues:
with the Redmote docked to the camera, I could swear that if you powered the Redmote on, it would also power the camera up in previous builds. That's not the case anymore.
and for some reason, once in a while my left navigation button on my Redmote stops working. a reboot of the Redmote solves that.
And i mapped the + - buttons on the Redmote to increase and decrease ISO. anytime i use that, it kinda freezes the camera, and have to reboot both.
all in all, no big deal, just wanted to inform...
BTW, Scarlet X

This has never been possible.

Thanks for reporting this - I have been able to reproduce it and we are looking into it.

Reading thru the read_me, there's no mention of removing the Side Handle.

What's the official word form RED, can the Side Handle stay attached during the upgrade?

Always follow the instructions provided which each firmware upgrade package (things may change between versions).

I had the same issue with trying to remap the red mote buttons. Everything froze and required a reboot.

What key actions did you have problems with and what keys on the REDmote were they mapped to? I believe we've fixed the problem when increase/decrease ISO is mapped to the rocker on the REDmote and would like to test that fix with other problem settings you may have found.

I just ran into a VERY odd issue since upgrading my Scarlet to Beta Camera Build 3.2.13.

Today I shot 5 64GB SSD REDMAG cards, and three of them I recorded to the absolute end. Since I upgraded to this build, when the camera runs out of space on the card, I get the traditional message about "Card Full," BUT then the camera keeps trying to Record, still displays the Red Record Light in the upper right hand corner of the screen, and refuses to eject the SSD card, turn off, or do anything that could get me out of this situation.

Worse yet, the only way I found to move past this situation is to hard-shut off the camera by holding down the power button for 5+ seconds. When I restart the camera, it informs me that it had an improper shutdown, and then when I try to play back the last clip, it says "error reading clip." I actually had to re-shoot 20 minutes worth of interview today because I wasn't certain if RED UnDead could resurrect the clip from this situation.

This seems to be a clear bug in this beta build, and RED Team, I hope that you can resolve it soon, because this is the first and ONLY problem I've had with my wonderful, flawless SCARLET-X, and I want to keep relying in it for every shoot.

I ?think? I remember seeing some posts about this in the 3.2.8 thread.

BTW - I looked for 'RED UnDead' in the download section. Maybe this was just for the RED ONE camera? Is there a download link I'm overlooking?

REDUndead is still available in version 2.0 for the DSMC cameras from the BETA section of the Support -> Downloads page from RED.com. Luckily, it came in handy this time and completely recovered the last clip I recorded when I hit the error. To use REDUndead, definitely follow the included instructions, and knowing RED, they'll have this recording error fixed soon.

It's not showing up for some reason https://www.red.com/downloads?release=beta

Have you signed in to RED.com? There are some items that are only available once you sign in.
Yes, I show that I'm signed in and can download the Scarlet firmware.

I own a Scarlet, possibly they didn't make it visible by mistake?

Very interesting. For me, it's on the very bottom of the Downloads -> BETA Page, and looks like this:

I was the one who originally, previously posted the card full record problem. My Scarlet exhibits the same behavior, exactly. When I reported this, a Red team memeber posted they were unable to reproduce the problem. But you have, precisley. I was hoping this issue would disapear with 13. Not yet, I suppose.

The same happened with my Scarlet. I just let I record all the way until the card was full as a test and the camera froze with the record indicator on. Hard power off was needed...

Another quick observation: After a successful black shading, i could not change any parameters on the touchscreen. the red line underlying the item would move, but the long box that opens underneath with the choices wouldn't open. A reboot fixes that.

Same thing happened to me over the weekend. Going to give Redundead a try, it has saved me before so I hope it can do it again.
