  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Atlas Lens Co. - Orion Series 2X Anamorphic Prime Lenses

Whats the deal with the vignetting on the typewriter stuff? And how aggressive was the color grade? Do they flare that warm naturally or was that post corrected?

Over all looked nice. I'd love to see something shot not all god damn hand held, kids today ;-)

Jon was shooting through a stack of books on the typewriter shot (Foreground elements), plus there was a floating resolve vignette added to some of these shots. Director's choice, I'm not here to demand what they do and don't do - more give people a chance to express themselves.

This was shot on Alexa XT Open Gate.

The grade is pretty strong - so you're going to see more saturation in certain areas than is found "neutrally" - but that all comes down to stylistic choices in post production.

We used a Cineped Slider and its rotational capability for some of the typewriter work.

More to come soon - just wanted to give you guys a nice preview present for the New Year!

Would be interesting to see things like buildings, grids and other things where its a bit more easy to see what the lenses do. Full focus pulls with fixed camera, slow pan and tilts that shows how even / uneven the destortion is and such.
 
Hi Dan,

Lenses are looking beautiful. Can’t wait to shoot with them. How tricky is the swap between the metric and ft scales? Also any status on the 28, 32/35, 50 & 75/80 lenses to complete the series? ;-)

Metric / Imperial Scale swap is designed to be relatively easy - more details to come as we get closer to shipping.

We have a 32mm,50mm and 80mm on the roadmap for delivery in early 2019!

From what I read on their page you can still put in a deposit, but you won't receive the discount price.
 
Hi Jonathan,

Not shipping as soon as we all might want, but not that long off either.

We are shooting more demo footage, will be at BSC Expo next week in the Kippertie booth, and are making some exciting leaps.

Nothing slows down shipping like taking away valuable time answering emails asking when we are shipping, so I’m working on a nice newsletter with some official info that will keep you satisfied until we are shipping.
