  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is the monitor SDI a whole new feed, or does it borrow from the HDMI?

I'd want to be able to run the EVF and LCD on the body, and still get two further independent outputs at the back.
 
Because I fatfingered the price when I sent it to Jarred, my bad.... True price is the $4750.

Oh, and it's probably too late with wherever you're at with production, but it sure would be awesome if the unit has just even a few strategically placed 1/4-20 taps on the top for adding accessories or top plates. Is there must be a reason it doesn't have them?

I suppose that's where we'll all be putting a velcro landing strip otherwise...

The MON-1 port provides an additional monitor feed that is separate from the SDI-1 and SDI-2 cloned feeds. The secondary LCD/EVF port and an HDMI/MON-1 port cannot be used at the same time.


Oh, and it's probably too late with wherever you're at with production, but it sure would be awesome if the unit has just even a few strategically placed 1/4-20 taps on the top for adding accessories or top plates. Is there must be a reason it doesn't have them?

Planned. If you force a hard mating between a brain and a module, the tolerances can stack up where it messes with the connection between the two. You should only ever connect a module to a brain via the screws through the module, not a bridge across the top.

We took away that temptation : )

Because adding 1/4-20s to the top of the module can pull apart the module connector from the brain if you put too much weight on it.

Yeah, so by the time you hang a ~140wh size battery off the back (plus have a teredek sandwiched in there) I suppose you can't put much more weight on it. I would have thought adding riggid support on the top (or bottom) would help with this... but I guess Brent says it messes with the electrical connections. hmm.

So, if a manufacture made a top plate that was longer than the brain it would still work... but it would have to cantalever over the open space of the module and not be screwed into the module itself. Is that your thought? Because that seems totally viable to me.

Yes but it would have to be beefed up in thickness so not to band and transfer any weight under on to the actual Module.

Could you post a pic with the module on a camera? Maybe with someone holding that setup in their hand?

Basically anything I can post on the Alexa facebook groups to make them jealous.
