I had the same issue, ended up using the Arri LS-9

http://www.filmtools.com/arri-ls-9.html

along with the DSMC Quick release platform pack and 2 19mm rods from Red (http://goo.gl/CW0Xz)
The support ring is from Duclos, but I don't think they make it anymore. all you need is the ring and the riser that bumps down to the LS-9. that setup there is solid as a brick sh&thouse. Looks like you can use the ring from optitek, and the arri LS9, that should work and be a real nice setup for you. My lens ring doesn't have the carry handle on it, that would be nice.

Matt, thanks for the link. I can't imagine how they justify the value being 590.50! I'll keep it bookmarked. Have you had any success finding a follow focus for this set up?

Hi Cassidy, it looks to me like the Optitek adapter (the $50 part) uses a Red universal mount which is actually 19mm. I think maybe the picture is a bit misleading. Have you talked to Jacek, or emailed him, to make sure it's only 15mm. I may be wrong, but it's worth checking if you haven't. A very reasonably priced solution. I used a universal mount with a similar set-up as lens support and it works great. I have a couple of extra universal mounts, if you don't have one.

Yeah it was expensive, but its holding up 10K worth of lens, so the boss bought one. Not sure if its often found used or not, can't hurt to try. Here s a link to the thread I had started earlier-

Rod, I just emailed him asking... I actually have that lens support system from optitek, I tried using the the 15mm set up (With the DSMC MODULAR ASSAULT PLATE PACK) http://www.red.com/store/products/epic-mounting-plate-pack-modular-m

but it wasn't working and lining up properly. I had to push the lens up to get it working properly and I didn't like doing that. Didn't want to permanently damage anything.

It was a pleasure speaking with you on the phone Cassidy. I'm glad I was able to get that in the mail today for you. You should receive it this week. You can call me anytime if you have other questions. Take care
