What Jeff just said...
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.

Remember I am an engineer not a business guy. But if you are curious google deferred revenue reporting which is what apple does. vs Sarbanes Oxley revenue recognition legislation which is what Al mentioned here. Interesting stuff in there. Not sure about Blackmagic.

After Effects has this feature. It isn't about lock in in this case. It is about testing resources. It is a lot of work to add new features and make sure the project opens in old versions. That is what is nice about XML/AAF as they are stable exchange formats. If u export an xml of our project you will get all the bins etc open in the old version. Not sure about Lightroom but Photoshop has compatibility modes for sure.

I assume those 2 questions are answered in the license, but I can check. Nothing nefarious. You can opt in to give us more usage info which is useful for designing features.1. What data does Adobe collect when "checking in" once a month?
2. Do they collect a log of when the software has been used?
Yes3. Can I run Premiere on my workstation and Photoshop on my laptop AT THE SAME TIME?
Yes4. Can I run AE on my workstation and AE on my laptop AT THE SAME TIME?
Thanks David. That's sadly a very different thing when you are dealing with complex client situations (which we do often).
It's the difference between being given a Pro Tools / Avid project file from a client and knowing that I'll be able to read it (even if they're on a later version)... versus someone sending me their Adobe project and I find that I can't load it at all.
Also, when you have a group of people working together on a project, you don't want to save XMLs constantly.
We really value whatever work that Maxon, Avid, Autodesk, etc do to enable this feature. Sure, their software evolves - for example, Maya 2014 now supports >2GB project files and that will break backwards compatibility. But they warn you explicitly. And I look forward to having Maya 2014 be able to load projects from 2015, 2016 and beyond.
Having Adobe CC save in a non-backwards compatible format by default seems Microsoftian. Especially when we have no idea what the price will be in the future to rent the app for a month to open the file - or whether Adobe will even allow us to install the app in the future! What if it gets discontinued?
Honestly: I feel like in addition to paying for Creative Cloud, I need to go and start looking for illicit copies of CC so I can stash them on a drive along with my project archive just so that I can be sure that I'll be able to open my project in 20 years' time using a virtual OS image. If your paying customers feel that, it's not a good thing. And I spent a lot of money on legit software! Ouch!
Sorry - but I do feel I am just voicing what a lot of other people in the business have said to me over the past few days. The only people I have spoken to who are happy are the ones who have never paid a cent for Adobe software and plan to just keep using illicit versions - and the other one who plans to use a family member to get the $20/month educational deal permanently. The folks who actually plan to pay for the thing are the ones who are most upset because they are the ones facing the greatest uncertainty.
Thanks for listening, as always.

Remember, you can have access to previous versions on the cloud so if you pay for a month you can grab whichever version you need.
Which is why I highly recommend everyone research this thoroughly through the detailed FAQ document as well as contacting Adobe with any areas of question that can have a large impact on your business, especially facilities dealing with a large volume of seats. This is one of those times when everyone needs to be on the same page so the surprises are minimized.Thankyou David, I was under the assumption the old rules applied, which clearly stated you could install on 2 machines, but only use 1 at any given time.

I appreciate your concern, really I do....... However, I ask that you just take a few minutes to really understand what is going on and then make the decision that is right for you and/or your company. ....

I appreciate your concern, really I doI know the Premiere team continues to work really hard making a great product that will bring joy to the people on this board. Premiere Pro CC as the other versions is just the beginning of the great stuff to come. I have never been prouder to work on this product and I will continue to work really hard on it. From my point of view I can make you guys happier than ever with this model as we can finally role out fixes when it makes sense to our users. That really excites me. I understand the frustration that people feel I really do. However, I ask that you just take a few minutes to really understand what is going on and then make the decision that is right for you and/or your company. If you ask questions that we can answer we will, if you vent we will listen. That is what our team has always done. The people on the Premiere team are as motivated as any people I have ever worked with. We welcome your feedback and comments as always.
Thanks

I appreciate the desire for even more options. I assure you Adobe has heard the feedback. At any rate $20 for one product and $50 for the suite is a good deal. Also we have 30 day trials and the first year special so people can try stuff before making a decision.

But £46 a month in the UK isn't though, is it?

RED sells a great configBut in general. If you want full res 5k you need 2 rockets or (I think) one of the new rockets. If you want 1/4 res you just need a good machine. Focus on 16 - 32 gigs of ram and one of our certified GPU cards. Al just posted a bunch on the premiere pro blog.
