Hey Brent, about the fan 2.0 upgrad; I didn't realize it was included with the Dragon upgrade, I've already installed both fans on my EPIC. Is there a credit for already having the fans prior to the upgrade?

When we upgrade to dragon and have the fan upgraded, do we get to also keep the old one? I think someone had posted a test that showed the quietest combination being new top fan with original bottom fan.

Shouldn't there be some discount applied to the Dragon upgrade for those who've already paid Red for and installed this product ?
Who needs 2 fan kits.. included for no extra charge or not??

Giving out duplicate parts is a very odd policy for RED. Surprising, considering a large part of their business model is providing upgrade paths, you would think they would be better prepared to deal with this circumstance.

If RED want to keep it simple why don't they give a RED STORE discount coupon in the box instead of s spare fan kit?

We decided to add it to the upgrade packages, yes. We are not doing a credit. Conversely, if everyone would prefer we don't do fans with the upgrades, I am sure no one at RED would object to not including them.

Actually I like the addition of the new fan kits included with the DRAGON upgrade. Thanks RED team!

Plus, if you already bought a set, having a backup fan set in your kit could really save you in a remote location if anything happens to your primary fans. It's a spare part in your kit that I bet most people don't carry, but probably should.

Speaking of spare parts, I'd love to be able to order a backup set of ALL the EPIC bolts (including the new tiny bolts for the top fan) for my kit. I know the bolt kit exists for the RED ONE, but is there an option to order a complete spare set for my EPIC? And if it comes in red powder coating, even better!

I don't imagine the assembly line being concerned about the story accompanying each individual camera... I suspect these guys and gals are only focused on the piece of metal before them and are concentrating on getting that piece of metal upgraded to a new standard of excellence. No time for what (I suspect) they regard as trivial matters.

Yeah, the FAQ's on RED.com should make it pretty clear what needs to come in with each upgrade and what will be going back out. If we add a lot of exceptions and wrinkles, it is going to - at worst - break the whole machine of upgrade processing. At best, increase processing times for all units by adding additional steps.

I WILL see if you want to decline the new bottom fan (ie, you have a rig where you need the smaller profile), if we can work that in.

Solid point not answered in the FAQ- will the old fans be shipped back with the Dragon or will they be scrapped/recycled when the 2.0 version are installed?
