  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2011 update...

I'm sincerely happy. For Jim, Jarred, Ted, Graeme and all the gang.

Bravi!

Ted needs a Spanish lesson.
Love that they also got the lens right. ;)

Thank you Ted. That was clear and all good news.

Will we hear details about the projector today?

Camera looks tiny with the Leicas. And also heavy enough. Some cameras get too light. But that won't happen with Epic.

damn... feel so left out.... aaargh!

RED desperately needs a new sensor to finally get much better low light capability and to fight with the competition in this way too.

Now I can bet that my former RED MX with Leica M Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 @ wide open is still more sensitive in low light than Epic-M with Leica Summilux C 50mm T1.4.

But unfortunately Epic can't get Leica M lenses (although R1 can) and Jim finally decided to make a sort of strategic partnership with Band Pro and bundle Epic M with the new Leicas...

A very smart move Jim...I'm expecting more in that way and the next should be about HDRx-2 that can deal with a clean high/low ISO based exposure fusion...maybe possible with new RED Dragon sensor upgrade...

Hey! what he said? Ted habló en español? I am on satellite in the woods in Massachusetts. So, no access to streaming video!

I think RED needs a machined version of Scarlet. Seeing the Epic M option go up today in the store makes me realize I'd gladly pay over the spec cost for scarlet or better yet a detachable 2/3 to get it sooner!

I'd pay more for a BLUE Scarlet-M. It'd be perfect for my "Blue Dragon" company.

Yup, that's a lens a'ight SJ. And now with the new primes the 21mm T1.4 is a lens! And the 35mm T1.4 that Ted had on during the stream is a lens too!

If the entire set matches the quality of the 21 and 35, you can just forget about it. Unreal performance in still-zoom size and weight.

Christian, no nothing at all really. Just busting Ted for his pronunciation of the title for the Argentine movie that won the Oscar before last (which was Red's first statue). But I am just kidding. The stream was more than great, thanks Ted.

All I am left wondering about is when we'll hear details about the projector. Will we find out during NAB? I think we will.

A pity that there aren't any Scarlet announcements or module pricings. Its a turbulent time with the situation in Japan, but things are still very much in the air.

Nevermind.

All the product releases so far have matched those October 30th prices. Bomb EVF, Redmags, SSD module, etc.

There have been some great announcements... the 4k laser projector, the dragon monstro upgrade, the iPad app, the bandpro/leica package, but those all seem equally impressive. Nothing feels like "the one" you know? I was sort of expecting a sort of drumroll build-up. A time set to announce, an event in the theater or something.
