  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wooden Camera Quick Back

Phil,

Which IDX battery are you using there? Does it work well? I'm about to get some IDX batteries as well.

These are the Endura 10 IDX batteries. I've got them for about a week and I will probably buy a 4 pack after that. Didn't time it, but the one I used today powered the Scarlet X with the 5.0" LCD Touch for around 1.45 hours. They are rated at 93Wh and they can be piggy backed on top of each other.

Where did the screen hood come from?

I posted this over in my Scarlet Skully thread, but it's relevant here to those interested. Here's the Wooden Camera Quick Back IDX/Swit V-Mount on Scarlet X.

It's designed and constructed nicely. Worth it in my opinion.

Got mine last week for my Scarlet and I prefer it much more over the VF one.

As to the extra length of the cable I just wind it up a few times and bongo tie it.

Phil, with that much weight on the back did you need to bolt the Quick Back to the back of the camera or was the quick release secure enough on it's own?

I also like to know if you had to bolt the plate on... I'm hoping for a pop it off the back and pop it onto the back of my handheld rig type scenario. I'm also in love with the quick back design concept.

I have just recieved the quick back, battery back and V-mount plate and it does look lovely! Really nicely machined, but am I correct in thinking that if I am to screw it to the camera I need to do up 8 screws - 4 allen keys to screw the quick plate to the camera and 4 flat head screws to screw the V-mount plate and battery back to the quick back?

The alternative of just clipping it onto the redmote housing is certainly easier, but have any tests been made to see how much weight this can support? I have fairly small V-lock batteries (93Wh), would this be too much weight to hang on the camera?

Many thanks!

Ben.

Here is mine with a 190Wh V-Lock IDX.

Tom! Thanks for posting, this is the first time I've seen the WC battery and sliding cheeseplate combo together. It really lets the heat vents breathe while providing dozens of sliding mounting points...

and the fact that it's an Arri dovetail for upside down mounting is perfect.

What top handle is that, it isn't the WC leather one, and I haven't been able to find it looking around... or is it a disassembled WC side handle?

Has anyone used this mount with more than a battery?
i will be using AB's and a CamWave transmitter. Will it support the weight OK?

I would like to know the weight too. Doesn't seem good to do so.

Can the Sync Bob or Sync Bob plus from Space Cam be used with the Quick plate?
