I'm opening an independent production house in Cairo, Egypt. I have an Epic, a Scarlet, a Red one, a couple of 5Ds, tons of lenses, lighting, and all types of equipment. I'm a director/DOP. I'm inviting everyone to come shoot any project, scenes, or even random footage here just to get some stuff to put in our portofolio and reels. All expenses covered. Any talented individuals tired of the cold weather and want to have some fun shooting in Egypt ( cairo, or red sea ) please contact me.
Thanks

sorry for a naive, american, question, but...

is it safe?

Nice.. Love to participate but schedule for 2012 is against me (lol)

Thanks for great offer

Yeah man, I know so many expats and foreigners that live here or visit a lot. It's def different from the US, but it's an experience you wouldnt want to miss. I know a lot of people that take pride on being able to handle NY on a daily basis but Cairo is a whole different beast. I would recommend the Red sea ( hurghada, or sharm ) for someone looking for a more relaxing experience.
Shooting in Cairo is amazing though and it's completely safe.

There are tons of shoots in Egypt and tourists too, now if it is safe to shoot there and bring your camera? I guess it depends on the structure of the production company like any other shoot in a third world country. But safety is relative now a days, there are areas in NYC and major US cities that would not go there without security.

I was thinking you'd use my cameras as im sure most people dont want to deal with customs and whatnot

That is a great offer Mohammed. Very cool that you're organizing this.

This sounds like an amazing opportunity, Mohamed! I understand that you are seeking to build a reel for your new production company; what are you plans regarding usage rights of the footage for the cinematographers that come to visit? Thanks.

Warmest,
Stivan

You can use the footage you shot for anything you want, if you make a profit, it would be nice to get a little something but not required at all. All i ask is you give credit to the Production house for the equipment and me ( if i help out with anything ).
You can also use my Mac pro to Edit or grade. I can also edit. I also have sound equipment.
Ofcourse you're welcome to work on anything from a feature film to a 5 minute shoot.
You have complete creative control of the project as long as I can provide all the required locations, equipment, talent, etc

ive shot in cairo and its amazing imagery is astonishing ...this was a long time ago and we needed to be okayed by the gov't and givin "press credetials" is that no longer the case? id love to go back not that the digital solution has been unraveled...

Hey, You're not getting paid so you wont need any permits or anything, you're just a tourist visiting a friend. XD
