  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Who wants to shoot in Egypt?

Hey Mo,
Don't let a couple ignorant folks get in your head. Heck, we don't even know our own laws and history over here much less the rest of the world. Egypt is a great and proud country that has seen some great and difficult times . . . but then that happens in a place that has been civilized for over 5000 years.

Peace and thank you from all of us for the generous offer to collaborate
Thanks man. I'm certain that they're all nice people with misconceptions that's all.
I never talked to anyone here that I didn't like. They're all artists and so am I.

Great, Mohamed! When avaliable contact me. Im from Brazil and the same way, if would like to shoot here, you'll be very welcome. In any way this year is complicated for me to go... But if you can, we talk about next year... pm jpmiranda82(at)yahoo(dot)com

Mohamed do you see Turkey on the map? its looks clean right no sharia? bet everyone knows Turkey as a most modern islamic country in the world.but its not like on the paper.go to the east side of Turkey and you ll see lots of honor killings because of islamic laws and sharia.
I know man, I've been there numerous times. Beautiful country.
I still hold a grudge against you for that show Gümüş. That godawful show. Everyone here was addicted to it. I can't stand that blonde guy.
People who say they hate everyone's obsession with Twilight, never saw that show.

LOL. Love the misconception of Eygpt ans Sharia. I like what you doing here, Mohammed :-)

And people who have issues with their idea about safety and laws, please don't go. Im sure Mohammed have many who would love to come.

Count me in. I'll take you up November 2012 or a bit earlier let me see.

I'd love to discuss this further but this is not the place for that.
Anyway I promise you we will never be ruled by sharia law. An estimated 15 million Christians live in Egypt, not counting all the people who are fed up with Islamists and their bullshit. They've always been here, Mubarak used to throw them all in Jail to shut them up. That wasn't right but that's how he dealt with it. People generally dont like them. The muslim brotherhood will never win a presidential election no matter what the media says. We have tons of bars, clubs, resorts. A lot of our country's income is from tourism.
I don't respect anyone who tries to benefit from religion, be it Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, etc

Anyway I hope you do come one day. I promise you'll love it. The night life is crazy, the red sea is amazing, and the people are awesome.
Cheers

Hey George,

I've shot in Egypt about 4 times. In the USA, I have been held at gunpoint for hours and illegally searched and detained by the US coast guard, had the Federal government seize my bank accounts with no explanation, been knocked out and robbed by armed hoodlums, and called 911 and had no one show up. In Egypt I had tea and good humus.

I think it's hilarious that this is a photo of a peaceful demonstration.
I live here and it's perfectly safe, I know a lot of foreigners that visit regularly, I know a lot of expats that live here, all my friends and family live here, we're all fine.
I would have loved to be there for occupy wall street just for the heck of it. Didn't look dangerous to me at all.
I know it's unrelated but may I ask how old you are?

About that state department "warning...."if the founding fathers ever thought we would have a country lacking in
"
the continuing possibility of sporadic unrest,
"

they would've lost all hope and given up.

Men gave their lives so Americans could live in a country where "
"political rallies and demonstrations are likely to occur in the period leading up to and following the elections and during the drafting of a new constitution."

Constitution? we almost had
a civil war the last time we wrote one. and our first president ordered delegates to shred their notes, so history wouldn't see how many argued for citizen-driven democracy.
but be careful enlightened Americans, make sure you carry a working cell-phone in Cairo, and whatever you do, don't come to your Embassy...

PS: a quick telegram from Thomas Jefferson
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

Hey George, I really want to tell you to stuff it up your ass and call you an asshole, but watch this instead -

I shot this, and nobody tried to do anything bad to me the whole time. They didn't even try to gay marry me or make me have an abortion. Imagine that.

Nice work! This is really well put together, thanks for posting this. Do you know, does this have decent educational distribution in schools in America? It really should. Obviously it available on Vimeo for free, but has this been pushed to teachers as a resource?

Thanks,

I think it is an important little show ;-) The editor, a good friend of mine, did a very nice treatment on all the still photos.

I just asked and found out the Department of Justice is using it as an educational tool to train various law enforcement agencies.

Cheers,

Nick

Nick - That's awesome! I hope it can find an even broader viewership, sometimes its good for reasonable people that make up a vast majority of the world to be reminded that for all the crap that gets spewed by those on the fringe... the majority of us are reasonable!

I agree, the photo treatment was really spectacular and engaging.
