  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

When it's announced...

lol

Wait what if is Gores fault after all?... He pissed off the environment with his movie which caused the tsunami which caused the supply chain issue! ah HA! We solved it!!!

I think it's more the fault of those pissing of the environment, Al Gore is the environments friend :)

That's true.

Just trying to liven the spirits around here. :smile5:

Yep, good point. RED doesn't know the word "finished", which is great. ;)
It is good to a certain point. I think its good with hardware to an extent, but like all movies, there are always improvements and changes to be made as time goes along. There is a certain point where you have to let it spread its wings and fly! At the same time if there are upgrades in the firmware you can update to make the experience better than great! I'm in no way hoping they rush the camera. I'm just like many have been following the Scarlet for a few years and waiting and hoping over on ScarletUser. I know it will be an amazing camera when it's released though! I know I'll keep checking daily. I even had a dream last night that it was up for sale.

Thanks for all your hard work Red!

With all the rumours about new Canons, Nikons and Sonys and the upcoming presentations i have the feeling that we are close to the next update on Scarlet and maybe EPIC-S too. Just a wild guess, with lots of hope in it. ;)

I hope Scarlet's out by my 36 bday Oct 16th baby, c'mon baby, c'mon baby, c'mon baby!

i hope thats not the case if thats how long it takes i'll probably have to get a different camera. I'm still hopeful for a fall release.

Im right there with you Jeffrey. The Canon 1D MKV with its unconfirmed rumors of 1920 x 1080 @ 120, 60, 30, 25, 24 fps is very appealing to me as the 120 FPS on the Scarlet is what baited me in the first place. The 3k and RAW was just icing on the cake. Unfortunately Its pretty much a matter of which comes out first at this point.

Where did you hear the unconfirmed rumors? Very interesting..

I would prefer the 3k and RAW over the 120fps. How often do you need to shoot 120fps?

1920X1080p uncompressed DNG RAW, CCD Kodak sensor, and 150fps is what I'd prefer.....

Depends on what you're doing. For action sports, we've always wanted higher frame rates. It just opens more possibilities to enhance the story telling. I've never needed or been asked for 3k on the other hand. However, it would be a plus. As for RAW, you can always hook up a nano.

The only reason I'm not so keen on the 1D is because of all that DOF. Yes I said it, I don't need or want it. It just adds pressure to the shoot. Once our shot is lost (out of focus), it can't be shot again. Seeing as I'm working alone on the hill in the back country and set up time is pretty fast, I'm not so keen on being the hated one for screwing up riders shots.

16mm is far better form for me.

That makes sense. I don't shoot any sports. Everything I do is short films, music videos, stuff like that. I can always do another take. Slo Mo is nice, but I can always rent something if I have a scene that really needs ultra slo mo. Hell, 60p slo mo'd in twixtor looks pretty good for that matter.

I certainly do not need depth of field until the talents eye is in focus, and his ear is out of focus. I find that annoying.

Tim I read that too. I shoot surfing, windsurfing and skiing. And my shooting season gears up around October. I like what I read on the new 1d and I shoot the 7d currently. That frame rate is appealing but what remains huge for me is having a high frame rate and lack of line skipping. Twixtor just doesn't cut it. If they can incorporate more video features it would be great. I have been looking for every single way to get whole of an epic m. But I'm nowhere close in budget and have no way of finding enough to afford the whole package. So I'm still hopeful for the scarlet.

I do think red is obviously the best choice and I'm a way bigger supporter of there's than I am of Canon or others but waiting 3 years already is tough. Ill hold out as long as I can though as I'd rather invest in a red because they actually care and listen but I gotta have a proper camera to shoot with.
