I understand the anger - but why does RED have to make a camera for EVERYONE? Weapon is a studio/rental camera, clearly priced out of many owner/ops reach.

Jarred has already said in other threads they have a "plan/roadmap" for Indies/owner ops. I imagine well hear more about that NAB 2016. Aluminum Weapon?

red don't have to make a camera for everyone

correct.

BUT THEY JUST NEED TO TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH A LITTLE MORE RESPECT ,

A DIRECT MX->DRAGON UPGRADE WAS NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE?
I felt i had to purchase the dragon upgrade before december to qualify for pricing and future upgrades..apparently (i knew it what was going on.. ).. but that pricing was made available after december anyway?

..the answer is .. marketing, and its more important than making information freely available to long-time customers

And of course.. we need to make those important decisions weeks before new information is available to us (ie, the dragon specs.) ..for what purpose?

of course , the camera companies control information to keep it out of the hands of their competitors..
here;s a question.. why? why the insecurity always?

if red never attended another NAB.. it would be the best decision they ever made IMO
make the best cameras you can, give the relevant information to your existing customers ASAP..and don't follow the same old boring , well trodden paradigm we've learnt to hate from every other company
when its more important to hold back information for purposes of marketing , and industrial insecurity.. than to provide it to your customers.. then at the very least, don't try and entice your existing customers into making decisions until all the information is available?
that would be respect.. that would be an imporvement to the status quo that the camera manufactuing business boringly stick to

it boring
