  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WARNING: Don't upgrade to High Sierra 10.13.2... Unless you like broken .r3d files.

UPDATE 2/21/18....

I’m not sure if the problem on the 2013 Mac pros is solved, as I’ve recently upgraded computers.

I'm now on a new iMac pro, running 10.13.3 and working with red files in resolve... here's how:

My system admin updated to the newly released Pro Video Formats... you have to sign up for their Beta Program to access the options... it's on Developer.apple.com

Hello
I'm using Helium Files with High Sierra with no problems

Happened to my friend's Mac Pro after I press the update button, now all black and he can't continue his coloring work.. My bad! What should I do now? :(

If you can reinstall High Sierra and avoid the 10.13.2 update, that's what we're trying this weekend... however... Apple suggested using a time machine backup from before the update... we don't have that option..

Good luck man.

We are aware the 10.13.2 update breaks our OpenCL implementation. We'll update when we have more to share.

Thanks Rob. I have a feeling this next year will be a flurry of patches and rapid revisions across many of the tools we use. Starting with Metal, graphics libraries, infinity fabric, GPUs with on board solid state storage, AMDs new architecture, etc. My hope is that a year from now we will have the kind of hardware (and proper software drivers) to throw around 4K - 8K imagery like we do HD and color sub-sampled UHD today.

Now if we could just get the toolmakers to work together, rather than using standards as a competitive machete...

Cheers - #19

Well, I wish I had read about this earlier this week. I'm now the latest victim of this upgrade problem :(

Would anyone be able to try the beta of 10.13.3 that just came out?

I've got a 2015 MacBook pro that I primarily use to produce our audio podcasts on or do design work. I'll try it on that, but not sure where to download apple beta os versions. It's currently running 10.13.1.

Edit... our system admin is hooking me up.. about to take the 10.13.3 plunge on my laptop... will report our findings here.

Ha! Now I know what's up this morning when I turned it on... I was WTFing under my breath for 45 minutes..

Just upgraded to Resolve 14.2, hoping that it would fix the blacked out clips problem. No dice. I guess we'll have to wait for Apple to fix this issue.

I can confirm that the 10.13.3 beta does not help. Still, the same all r3d processing is only done with CPU and METAL setting in Resolve :( downgrading to 10.13.1

Ugh... ok.. glad my System admin took the week off so he left my laptop on 10.13.1

I just got everything back up and running on my mac pro today.. Downgraded OS to Sierra, davinci to 14.1, redcinex 50.whatevs... won't upgrade till we hear the word.

Any update? Has anyone upgraded to the macOS High Sierra 10.13.3 public beta? to see if it works?
