If I give you the name then I'm afraid they will be dead within the hour... then where will we be? ;) I got confirmation that they are sending the next batch of parts out on Saturday... I'll have them by Tuesday.

Is that tracking number confirmation or their word confirmation? Because it seems like their word doesn't hold.

Curt - I mean this in the best and most sincere way and I hope you know that... I really appreciate the effort and what you're trying to pull off here, but I seriously think you guys should reconsider getting this stuff made somewhere else. Your supplier is making your company look really bad in the industry. As a faithful customer I'd rather you dump the current supplier and use a few weeks to get someone else in line. Just my 2 cents. Waiting for this supplier to get his act together could end up costing your company dearly in the long run.

Die-casting isn't exactly rocket-science and there should be plenty of companies out there capable of doing this. Get someone closer to you that will take responsibility - I'd be happy to pay more for my Inclinos if they could be machined instead!

I know we're talking vastly different quantities and production setups, but heck - Apple is able to make and sell a Macbook for $999 with a shell carved out of a piece of aluminum ;-)

That being said - I could really have used your product on a shoot today, so please finish it soon!

I agree the delays hurt - but once VF's products start shipping, I'm confident every View Factor user will be beyond satisfied and the products will repair any damage done by the delays...

I will say waiting for these awesome revolutions sucks but it's nothing compared to the wait for the RED we all endured. Once everything starts rolling out the door though, I'm sure another wait will begin - the FF/motors systems will sell out rapidly and then back orders will begin. (I wish I could afford to purchase and wait for 3 motors and a control unit... )

**Disclaimer - I am not affiliated with View Factor. I just support what they're doing and love their products.**

Your supplier is making your company look really bad in the industry.

After waiting forever for RED, RedRock Micro's FF, a Birger mount I think it's safe to say if the product works well everyone will get over it.

I think everybody understands new products are tough to design, build and ship. They are subject to every delay imaginable. I think the big lesson learned is no one should ever announce any dates until the units are completed, tested and ready to ship.

After cancelling my order for the Inclino and Impero, I promptly received my refund.

I continue to be pleased with the quality of the Origo.

My cancellation was not based on a dissatisfaction with the people at View Factor or the quality of their work. After so many disappointments on delivery, I became worried about their ability to provide parts and service for their equipment in the future, so I decided to find another solution.

I do wish View Factor the best and every success. They are very nice people and talented designers.

Best regards to all,

Leo

I understand your concerns and apologize for the delays that lead to your cancellation. I want to assure everyone that we are working on getting our customer service up to the same level as our products. Currently we are concentrating on shipping products but we understand the importance of good communication and making sure that you can get repairs or replacements on a moments notice. We will not always be this way and we are working our butts off to make this a company that everyone here can be proud of.

Tony - There are dozens of great die casting companies here in the states but my experience with them has been just as horrible as with our current supplier. Our current supplier is making great looking parts but its the little seemingly insignificant details that they are dropping the ball on. We had a tough decision... wait for the parts that we paid a $%*! load of money for or just drop everything and go with CNC parts. The CNC route seems like an easy path but if you look at our design you will notice that there are several setups to make the bodies... that equates to $400 for just the main body. After that we would end up charging a LOT more for the motors and be in the same range as everyone else in the market. The other issue is leadtimes for the CNC parts... if you have your own equipment then your're good but if you only have one mill then the lead times start piling up when we have to outsource the machining.

This has been very difficult for me to stick with our supplier but I feel like this next batch of parts will be the ones that are the keepers. We are getting everything else lined up so as soon as they arrive we will crank out a dozen units for test then ship the first 50 units as soon as everything checks out.

I do understand this is no easy task for you guys and I'm really sorry to hear that you've had so much trouble with your supplier. My point was however that it's easier and MUCH faster to work with someone local because you can go there and talk to them face to face and make sure they understand the problem. I know this for a fact having dealt with software developers in china, india, pakistan and the philipines. It's a nightmare :-)

It sounds like what you're saying is that you're still weeks (maybe even months) away from getting real shipping products out the door? In the mean time I have to rent in other wireless follow focus systems and the difference in lost revenue on having my own and renting is diminishing every day for me - making the Inclino/Impero just as expensive as your competitors if you know what I mean.

I knew buying into this that there was a possibility of delays but since I ordered in late march I was counting on at least getting the stuff by the time my camera was shipping (late july) - but I did not in my wildest dreams count on having to wait (up until now) 7 months for my Impero/Inclino.

The first time I heard about these delays was back in the beginning of june and have to say that I find it somewhat disturbing to know that this issue still hasn't been resolved even after 4 and a half months.

I too have been thinking very thoroughly about cancelling my order - not because I think you guys won't pull it off eventually, but because I realize now that it would have made so much more sense for me to own a system instead of renting one since I took delivery of my RED. However I'm holding on - for now - because I think your system still looks badass, has a lot of functionality over existing systems and most importantly I really like supporting the little guys.

That being said - I know all of this must be so frustrating for you guys and I know you're doing your best. I'm just venting my own frustration here and letting you know that I am not going to wait forever for this product. I've already thrown almost $3.000 into this and I'd really like to get some return on that investment soon.

I'm sorry there's so many frustrated souls out there, but hey we waited a long time for the RED and we didn't complain about the camera rentals we had to do while waiting then, so why now?

The competitions prices are so much higher that it's impossible to say that a few rentals will set you back, unless it's a few features back to back (and even then your getting rental fee's out of it - I assume you charge for your sub rental).

Settle down guys and think. You'll most probably find that it's mostly frustration from not receiving it then anything else. The guys are having a lot of bad luck and are sincerely trying to sort it out. Let's face it, they're very open in keeping us in the loop what's happening.

I still believe in VF and their design and if they deliver what's been promised, it will be bad ass!!! If so, the industry's history will be changed once more. So this is indeed very exciting times.

BTW I've lost my manual for one of my Origo's (if there ever was one). I can't get the sound to work on it. It works and makes a sound when it's powered up but doesn't do the beep when I'm pressing on and off. Can anyone tell me the combination I need to press to return that precious little beep to me.

Thanx

Fredrik,

Plug in Origo to your Red and press the little black button (MUTE) on the right with a small object. You should hear a beep then it should be working after that. If not then its the Camera. Some RED cameras have been having issues with the GPIO port...we have notified Red of this problem. I think they are fixing it when they are sent into RED for audio upgrades.

Hahaha makes sense - then it's the camera. Glad I wasn't that stupid then hahahaa. Good to know since I haven't sent mine back yet.

Hi there Curt,

I was running 17 last time. It was working with one of my other cameras before, which is now to be sent for upgrade, so I was shooting with another one and suddenly it didn't work. I figured someone had pressed the "mute" button and tried to press it and nothing happened.

The on/ off works but no beep.

Is it built 17 that could be the problem?

Yeah, I've seen at least a dozen instances where the button works on build 16 but then not on build 17. Not sure why that's the case though. You might hit up the guys over at Red and see if they can fix it for you.

hi Curt,

Did the Parts recieve ? You posted earlier you expect them on Tuesday.

best regards
Manuel
