I've dealt with the viewfactor guys and when it came to my origo purchase they have been great.

I second that, I've dealt with Viewfactor also. They made a special length cable for my Origo and shipped it with a fast turn around for a shoot. I exchanged many e-mails with Curt, and I have full faith these products will arrive and will be great.

As I've mentioned before it woud be nice for VF to update their page a little more often. Here is the latest update from October 16th, 8 days ago :
NEW UPDATE: Die Cast parts have not arrived yet. We finally have the mill and lathe setup in the shop so we are hacking some of the parts to make them work in the bad shells we received. Noise and MDVT testing will commence this weekend and I expect to have solid ship dates next week. We are taking this opportunity to really button up the firmware and add as many cool features as possible to the first shipments. I understand that this is a frustrating experience for our customers and I assure you that we are doing our best to get these units shipping as soon as possible without sacrificing quality.

And that's 8 days ago. IMHO that's a pretty fresh update. I understand the impatience, but this is how it goes when business is done the "RED" way. The product becomes "cheaper" or we can say affordable, but we also have to roll together with the punches that "the producer of the brand" is receiving.

And so far it's not as bad as the "Birger mount"

Hard to accept that the "Red way" is appearantly a new way of doing business in the sence that you don't have to catch deadlines and commitments and you also don't have to -or hardly - have to communicate about this fact with your clients.

I wished my clients would be so nice and tolerant.

I have not spoken with Curt only had a few emails with him.
For some reason I do trust Curt and that he is trying to deliver the best it is possible.
On the other hand it could be that not everything is in his hand.
The fact that manufacturing of the products is taking so much time and long back due, could state that there are some problems...

As stated before there is "A" problem.... the housings. I just received the tracking numbers for the replacement parts that were supposed to be shipped on Sunday. If DHL does there job we'll have 50 sets of nice parts on Monday or Tuesday and we can kick out 10-20 units for final testing early next week.

If anyone is interested we will be at HD expo in LA next week, we will have several units running at the show for people to play around with. You guys will not be disappointed with these motors. At this point I feel comfortable claiming that our motors have more torque, more speed, higher resolution, smaller form factor, and less weight than the majority of the wireless follow focus units on the market.

If you can go check it out, go - he's right...
If no can go, I have a video coming...

Curt..it's taking so long for them to deliver the first batch. How long are they going to take to send the remaining batch ? This needs to be constant. The shipping status doesnt look good at the moment

I didn't mean to say he should have updated more recently. 8 days is indeed a fresh update, and I was pointing that out to people getting impatient.

As to the Red way of doing business, I don't quite agree. There is one major difference. Many of us here have paid the total amount of these orders quite some time ago, and I can understand the impatience, not the intolerance though. It is quite clear to me that the delays are not VF's fault, and I believe they're doing their best.

As to future deliveries, like with Red, if you all followed closely and recall, it was mentioned, the last 10% represented 90% of the work. This is where VF's at right now. Once they've resolved all the issues, production should be able to ramp up pretty quickly.

Good luck, work hard, keep the faith, we're nearly there...

Cheers,
Damien

What can a man do to get on that team of testers? :-)

Thanks for the update. We like updates, even if it's news we don't really want to hear. It's the silence that drives everyone crazy.

I just got my Origo today! It is such a well crafted little piece of equipment. I love the battery meter and the audible beep. This coupled with the ET handheld will make any shooter an unstoppable force of mobile nature. Can't wait for the Inclino now!

VFS are the best parts ever made for RED.

Best design
Really Innovative products
Onest and affordable pricing

The only that have produced accessories with the same philosophy that have inspired RED.

I know it's a different beast, but I have a feeling a lot of Impero/Inclino sales may be lost to Arri's release of their MFF-1. Too bad there have been so many delays.

isn't the MFF-1 like twice the price?

I think the mff-1 is about the same, a little more with the 19mm adapter ($2050).

I thought it was 37-something? i might be making that up though
