In any case, I suggest a time lapse ...

Pawel:

While we've butted heads a few times on other threads, I have to say I do appreciate your acerbic wit at times.

As a manufacturer myself, I can appreciate Curt's difficulties...

... but that was pretty funny.

Curt - how about the rest of us who have an EF mount and are STILL not squared away with impero??? :violin:

best
joe

Joe: It won't replace impero for your surface shoots, but we have finished up our underwater controller for the birger mount which can be easily adapted to your underwater housing. Focus, Iris, Image stabilization, on/off, lens initialization and several other functions. Contact me if your are interested.

The bubble blowers thread seems to be dead after the reduser site breakdown a couple weeks ago, so stuck it in here even though off topic.

Quick update before the weekend... We got the heat treated parts back last night and tried them out. There is a little additional noise after hardening that I think we can get rid of but post machining. On the plus side the parts are much smoother - no intermittent sounds. We were going to send out another set today to have blanks heat treadted so we could machine the interfacing portions of the parts afterward but the heat treat guys have today off apparently. I'll get them in on Monday and we will be squared away on the design by Tuesday.

The next batch of parts will be in the hundreds... I'm planning on getting all of the drive train components for existing orders done by the end of next week. Then its off to the races to get them out asap. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to get 40-50 out during the week of the 13th. Next week I'll post our progress.

thanks for the updates Curt!! very much appreciated.

I generally try to stay quiet on such things, but this seems a rather inappropriate statement given the context.

That's funny, Mitch.

Update: Sent the first batch of parts to heat treating yesterday. Should have them back this afternoon. After I get the units assembled and into test I will put up another update. The tempering will make the steel parts the same hardness as the ball bearings so we will not have wear problems over the life of the motor.

Damien, We will be offering a wider gear in .8 Mod. It will not be until we get the motors shipping on a consistent schedule. I have been focusing solely on getting all issues resolved with the DFF and then I will jump onto other accessories/products.

Joe, we are working hard to support both streams of Imperos. Erik should have about half of his volumes squared away this week.

Thanks for the info and the updates, looking forward to the week of the 13th!

Cheers,
Damien

hey all just wanted to let you know that we will be posting new videos periodically our youtube account showing the progress of our production. Stay tuned

yeah John, I'm tuned!

Signed,

One of the first 30, and who hasn't heard OR received ANYTHING of use after calling repeatedly except for watching other non-first 30 people rent out their units at a premium because they complained publicly and repeatedly. So here we go, public complaint:

I never called one time for over a year after my initial order because I thought my public encouragements of simply taking a few moments to at least provide updates on or before the dates that VF said an action would happen should be enough. I didn't want to tie up your production time by calling and taking 10 minutes to satisfy one customer in what should take 5 minutes to satisfy hundreds of customers.

Well, we had no problem renting FF units for commercial/music vid clients in the intervening year and months between our order date and continued teases of ship dates. Then a short film came up that we we did "for the love" if you will. The project couldn't be done without a remote FF unit and certainly not without even a rod-mounted FF, and production didn't have a budget to rent(we were willing to donate the VF rental as a sort of beta test). The schedule was all weekends at the end of May and early June. I decided it was time to call VF to see what was up. I was assured on my calls that I made EVERY SINGLE WEDNESDAY before each weekend shoot that SOMETHING would be shipped. I even provided the location address as the shipping address. I made the same phone call every wednesday and explained the situation and was told every single time: "oh, you're one of the first 30, I can't believe you haven't received anything yet!" And to this very day we haven't received anything and people basically had to scrounge money on that shoot to rent a FF, and EACH WEEKEND ON SHORT NOTICE after being told we would have a follow focus each weekend and never got it. We've had no problem renting on budgeted shoots, but on this one EVERYTHING was donated, and I was really hoping to get the feel of the VF system to test for our paid shoots and was assured on THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS that it was shipping.

Still a hopeful VF customer after WELL over a year,

Dominic

Edit:changed "their" production time to "your" production time in 2nd paragraph

So? A full week it's passed, how is going now? A video? Some words?
A shipment?
This is amazing, I sent emails every month to know when we could get the stuf we paid a year ago. Nothing, but nothing is coming back. This is really bad...

What Everrrrrrrr!!!!!
Today is the 11th. What do you think. I don't but I hope.....

In July 2008 I was given a shipping date of September 25th, 2008.
Made FedEx arrangements because I was touring at that time.

Nothing yet, I think I´m somewhere #50 to 60, dont remember, it was so long ago.

This margin of error is ...... I dont know.... even in RED-space-time ....

The worst thing is that they keep putting up promises they can't keep. They don't seem to learn from their mistakes.

But I'm still hoping...

He has said he will post this week to let us know how things have gone. Mind you we have been told that many many times before then absolute silence for weeks, but then again after those few recent posts in rapid succession i am hoping...again...Curt see's that it only takes a couple of minutes for a quick post to keep everybody happy. It's not the end of the week yet so give him till then at very least till :emote_head_explode:

I really cannot believe that even if he is a nice guy and even if he is the nicest guy in the world, this is very uncalled for. Learn how to run a business. I really do understand that he is having problems and is trying to correct them and even at his own expense which is great and very respectable but he throws it all out the window when he keeps quiet about his progress. All he has to do is give a simple update to keep us calm and all will be OK.
