  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

A battery belt is not the same as having it attached to the camera. That being said I've put in an order now. I agree that the deal is better now than it will ever be, but because I'm doing this way earlier than I planned to, it's not really the happy choice for my economy that I pictured it would be in the end. Earlier I was happy about upgrades and new gear, but this time the decision was pure business. So I have mixed feelings :/
 
This conversation is about to make me beat my head against a wall! Its hard to find information between all the chatter (as I add to it). Brent and Jarred, thank you for adding to this deal! My shop is a small shop, our one Red is a huge cost on our budget line, but we know what your camera systems do. I can't speak for everyone, but thank you guys for pulling through on every stop with the MG.

Before Red, we were selling cameras every 2 years, just to keep up with tech. Now we only have to sell a few outdated accessories to keep up. Happy fucking customer here!

Ignoring the fact that Joe has posted a pic of a v-mount battery and the top handle both working together on Weapon, you don't actually need to use the top handle to operate the camera. And it is not like you are paying for the top handle since it is a free accessory that is included with the upgrade.

You probably have a few months before you even receive your upgrade email, so you do have some time to plan. Even with the $5k deposit, you can select wire transfer and have 10-days to pay before you lose the $5k accessory credit. I would say just put in the order now and think about it over the next 10-days, but you already did.

Seriously, I cannot believe there's even any complaining. As a soon-to-be new customer, I wish I had a Dragon to upgrade for this price right now. Red is bending backwards for their customers. I'm coming from Sony and Canon; and they are just a faceless corporation and they would NEVER do anything like this. Ever. And for Red to extend the credit date because it caught a few people off guard? No other camera company would do something cool like that.

You should be super happy to save a ton of cash. Just charge it. Cry now, smile later.
 
It's been said already, but I'll say it again...anyone that believes RED is being unfair with this pricing structure and opportunity is out of their freakin' minds. IF anything I think these whining late adopters shouldn't get credit for not hopping on the ship from the get-go. That would be fair, but instead RED is being incredibly generous and you should be thanking them by kissing their feet. IN FACT with the accessory credits given this upgrade is costing me LESS than my jump from EPIC M to Dragon. Keep it up Brent, Jarred and the rest of team. I can't wait for the MG Weapon to arrive.

I promise, my last reply on this...

You have the option to wait. And if you wait, you get a better deal than was available to you last week. You don't get $5000 accessory credit, but you save $5000 in cash.

For a limited time, you have opportunity to get both. How can you not be thrilled at that? At best, you save $5000 and order now. At worst, you wait and STILL get a better deal than was on the table a week ago.

We are trying out best to put ourselves in the customer's shoes and do what we'd want our camera company of choice to do. We have made it clear the accessory credit would eventually end. Like some have said, the accessory credit was initially going to end after NAB ended 7 months ago. For supply chain and planning purposes, doing special deals like this and the 8K deal give us an early assessment on demand as we order long lead time parts. And this week, we are ending it for WEAPON Mg upgrades, but replacing it with a $5000 cash savings.

I know sometimes out methods and such are confusing, but it is done all with the best intentions.

Fair enough Brent!

But the question remains - how will ALL eligible RED customer be informed on the Wednesday deadline? That is important, in my opinion. Only a small percentage read Reduser regularly.

And yes, it is confusing. I say this as a customer who loves RED.

Just wanted to get that out there before I add to the confusion here. And I apologize if this has been answered multiple times already... Is the accessory credit that's ending
on the 18th just for the Mg Weapon? If I want to upgrade my Dragon to CF Weapon, will the accessory credit still be available for a little while? I'd written off upgrading to
Weapon for a while but after Brent posted the link to the pricing info, I reassessed and might be able to swing it now...just not before tomorrow night. Regardless if the
credit is or isn't available for CF after the 18th, I will still upgrade because it's a bad as fuck camera for a still great price. Just curious if it was just the Mg credit that ended
tomorrow.

@Brent - In the spirit of extending NAB specials, how about extending the 8k for $10k special for Forged Carbon upgrades? Open it back up for 48 hours!

Two things...

One, as I stated to Christoffer, the deal that goes into effect Thursday is still as good, if not better, than what was offered a week ago. Sometimes, we have these little heads up on just REDUSER. We are not trying to be used car salesmen here, "Buy now and you get X!". This is a special deal for those paying attention... We are not taking anything away from the general base, just a little window of love for you guys.

Second, I know. And sometimes REDUSER can create more churn than it answers. No offense, really, just stating it can be a double-edged sword...

Daniel, no price adjustments on CF WEAPONS, those remain with the Mg internals and they won't move to Al. Already shipping both.... Accessory credit will remain as shown on RED.com for the foreseeable future...
