  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Trost Slider GROUP BUY - limited time

Hi all, sorry for missing the last couple posts on here - that's my fault. If anyone ever wants to get in touch, for any reason, please don't hesitate to PM me or email me at gchei [at] trostmotion.com. I usually can get back to you within a few hours.

The reason we've been quiet for the last few months is because we've taken everyone's feedback about the slider and redesigned it. It has really been shaped by the folks here.

The new system, which we are calling Trost M-series, is Mitchell and 100mm native and features an extremely low-profile, compact cantilevered design. It is in production right now and our aim is to have it available for you late fall 2014. We have increased our production capacity, so we should have good availability.

For current Trost owners who were waiting on Mitchell and 100mm adapters, the M-series will be available via an easy and cost-effective upgrade. Just email me and we'll make it work for you.

Thanks again to everyone here for your continued support. We are going to bring you the best slider that you've ever used.

EMail sent. Thanks for the update, Gabe.

Super excited over the new gear! Can't wait to get our hands on it.

I see there is an upgrade path, thanks much for doing that.

Just curious about the 100mm bowl option... Is it a whole new slider system where the upgrade is a 'replacement' or can our original slider is somehow adapted or modified to support the new bowl ?

Thanks for info on this whenever the details are known.

I'd wager to say the new option is having plates that slide onto the slider track that are offset (perpendicular) with room to tie down a 100/75 bowl or Mitchell Base. So your existing slider stays in tact.

This would essentially only replace the existing slider plate with the pop-up 3/8" screw (where you currently mount your flat base head or bowl adapter). The swap only takes a second but likely sacrifices the offset 50cm option due to the tie-down interfering with the slider track. I could be wrong and they've devised a new solution. Perhaps a super low profile tie-down that clears the lower slider track and allows for a full range of motion.

Totally speculating though.

We can offer either a complete replacement or an upgrade to the original slider (since the new components are compatible with the original rail). We'll have more details on the upgrade path after we've talked to some current owners.

What's the biggest Trost slider than can fit on ONE tripod?

That depends how beefy your tripod is. With a Mitchell tripod + sandbags, you could support a 1m slider. With a ball head tripod, the point of failure will be the ball slipping in the bowl. That can be addressed by supporting the other side of the slider with a stand or monopod. If you're on the go and just have a single lighter weight tripod, the 50cm slider works nicely.

The fitting of a longer Slider, any slider really, on a single base of support is always a risk taking mission...

With the Trost Motion Sliders one can fill OVER confident that the slider will handle anything...

And it WILL!!

But your Mounting pint will most likely will NOT, unless as Gabe suggested it is via a Mitchell mount, which offers stronger points of grip.

I have tried this several ways with both the 50mm and the 100mm, and found that the best way was always to SCREW in the bottom Feet on the Tripod on one side, in order to offer a firmer support by the 3 legs, and on a Monopod on th either, to offer additional support.

I tried also with C-Stands but is not the same, but can work if you tied down properly using adaptors.

The new design will offer no doubt better mounting options as it dimly allows for lower center of gravity mounting of the Fluid head and camera placement in respect to the level of the Slider itself.

But I'll be showing you guys some other form of really tying down that 1meter slider even on a Single Tripod soon... But here you do need to have a beefier tripod and you do need to SAND BAG that thing!!

Btw...

Here is the NEW beauty...

Mitchell Flat Base with 100mm Bawl Head adapter... Easy 3 screws to remove... New Feet, more powerful and stronger design then before if that is even possible...

BTS pics and vid from our next shoot forthcoming...

I am sure that Bob is also at work with something to start a new thread showcasing this beauty, most likely He is hiding in his safe... Or his little girls She is already using to slide up and down it... :)
