  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tonaci Tran

Blair's super 3d Road Grader.

Checking out dailies.. image is blurry because I took the photo during 3d playback. We are in a mobile van, so of course where you sit at the station is closer than one would like, but standing by the door gives you a good idea of how the shots are coming along. I love the instant wow factor you get when you get to see 3d playback moments from when you shot it. 5k 3d.. pretty mindblowing.

Tonaci, perhaps I missed this ... but is this a full-length feature or a short?

Anthony

We just finished shooting two shorts (produced by Just Cause 3D) with the Epic + Atom Rig combo.

Please keep us updated on this Justin. It sounds like a most excellent day. (What I would give to see what they do to test those babies).

I was living at Element Technica all last week prepping for the Epic + Atom shoot and had a chance to meet some follow Redusers...

...Casey Green!! it felt like just yesterday when you dropped by Chapman when the first Red One was released. =)

I know! Remember this? :-)

Oh, please say hi to Brandon for me. (He was our villain on "Chuck" last season.)

Justin, can you guys post Leica+Epic framegrabs?
I can't share any frames from the actual test...but when Justin read your post, we asked if we could shoot parts of the warehouse with the Leicas.
Nothing too exciting but we figured to share some Leica + Epic action.
All shots below were done handheld under existing warehouse light - Epic @ ISO 800 + Leica 21mm Lens T1.3

Thanks Dude, these remind me of some of the S2 shots I've seen recently, but I have a feeling the Epic can deliver even more dynamic range. Impressive ... you rock :)

Anthony

ha i think i even showed up for a moment at that one...

You did indeed. Brook hooked us up a studio at Chapman and we (Evin, Brook, me, Tony, Casey, Scott Webster and IIRC Steve Tammi) were marveling at what Jim's vision had made real.

Tonaci posted the first images from a shipping RedOne on RedUser that night and we all took our tiny place in the history of the Rebellion. Seeing the images from the Epic with the new Leica prime I can't help but agree with Mark P. that only a scant 3.5 years later RED has released the most capable motion image capture device ever made. Due to NDA I can't discuss any specifics about the test but I can say that both the Epic and the Alexa put out terrific images, but that's hardly news ;-)

Thank you for the grabs.

Were Justin's shot and the first one wide open?

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Reduser is now resizing embedded images, and there will be quite a bit of softening added.
To see the images as they were intended, copy the image location and open on a new tab.

I sure hope people will be careful about EPIC side by side tests until the camera is done. Just like with the RED ONE... many advancements are happening even now. And Graeme has just come up with wildly better HDRx stuff. Hold tight. EPIC-Ms are not finished and every owner knows that.

Tonaci air dropped into San Francisco with Epic for David Mullen.

Nice! Would love to hear David's thoughts -- I think we all have the utmost respect for his opinion :)
