  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Man, You're living the Dream! Enjoy!

Thanks George, I definitely admit it has been amazing. Speaking of the dream, I was just on the phone with my lead DIT in Vietnam who just started feature film #17 shot with our Red Ones in Vietnam. 17 feature films since March 2008. You can pretty much say that RED has made an enormous impact on the film industry in Vietnam.

I know! Remember this? :-)

Oh, please say hi to Brandon for me. (He was our villain on "Chuck" last season.)

HA!!! Awesome.

Thanks for the props and coming out to Chater Camera in Berkeley. We had a blast testing out the Epic HDRx and IR Tests. David and I are pretty happy to shoot Epic on our Indie Feature.

just to add I was 2nd Unit DIT : Data Tech on "Fionas Tale".

Were using Colorfront in tandem with Epic to push the limits of bleeding edge technology.

Thanks again Tonaci!

Hey Ketch..speaking of fun. Thanks for coming out the other week with your Epic. First two days of my Atom prep, Billy Summers came out to help me prepare for my first Atom shoot. Then day 3 came with Ketch's Epic and Pedro's assistance. It was one of the first times we got to fire up the Epics with my Atom rig. By COMPLETE coincidence, Ted happens to drop by. =) Also thanks goes to Joseph Hutson subbing for Justin O'Neill.

Thanks everyone for the kinds words. =)
Definitely one of the best highlights of my life.

Today, Pedro Guimaraes and I set up two working Epics on my Atom rig.

Also did some basic 2d config experimentation.

We will definitely be shooting some fun 2d/3d stuff over the next weeks that we will share. =)

That is a beautiful sight!

Nice! Congrats Tonaci, thanks for share.
See you in Vegas Guys!
Cheers and have fun on this 3D trip =)

Just landed in NYC yesterday with the Epic (can't say for what hehe). But what I can talk about is how streamlined Mark Pederson's Epic + Atom 3d "Hellbenders" shoot is going! This is the first indie feature shooting on Epics and in S3D with the Atom. It is also my first time ever in New York so everything has been mind boggling. Such an amazing city. Special thanks to Mark for setting this up. On Thursday I get to check out the OffHollywood facility in Soho. fun times.

Hangin with the OffHollywood crew on the set of Hellbenders.

Just got some pictures uploaded from the shoot.....

Low mode steadicam action.....akward position in that shot....ground was soft and sloped.....grrrr. Low mode heavy rig....arghhhh. I struggled thru that shot a bit...hoepfully the footage doesn't show it!

Then some handheld action.....1st AC Tanner Stauss handling the C-Motion Cvolution and Operator Dustin Pearlman.

The operator there was Dustin Pearlman. He did a great job handling the rig, as did Pedro. A bit awkward, but its still S3D up on your shoulder, pretty mind blowing when you think about how far the technology has come. Dustin was operating with one EVF mounted upside-down when in this configuration. In handheld mode there, I would say the rig was around 55-60 pounds.
