  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

To be clear...

Well, they're not thinking, they're working ;-) Most of the people I know, who really work (directors, dops, etc...) don't have time to spend hours on internet forums to get the right info and updates. It's easy to understand. On Reduser there are plenty of young kids or jobless people, even Red owners, who prefer to spend their lives here than going out and use their beautiful camera ;-)

I guess you need everyone to build this world :patriot:

iphone solved that problem. posting here while beeing on set is common :)

It seems to me that those working should stay on top of what they are doing...

Reduser

Reduser

Same here, I know a RED owner in Hamburg who is not even registered as a REDUSER member.

( Do they check their mails for informations on upgrades , firmwares and new products....they may have missed their stage 2 offer)

Well I cannot sleep if i do not visit REDUSER forum everyday and with the EPIC excitement picking up it has become more necessary..maybe I am addicted...

Sounds good Jim! Let's roll round 2, I'm ready!!!

That's why assistants exist ;-) they do all the hard work, spending hours to find this damn firmware upgrade thing ;-) And once they become dop, they try to find a good assistant ;-)

Agree 100% specially if you wanna stay busy working in the long run as professionals.

NAB is approaching. We will answer all your questions at NAB. We will show you more than you could every imagine. We will be a great supplier. We only ask you to be a great customers. Fair deal?

Jim

Suffice it to say that in less than a year, my R-1 has changed my life. Stage 3.5 is already beginning to streak and blur hard, like the jump to hyperspace. Am so excited!

If I could attend only one day at NAB, is there a particular date I should aim for?

It is pretty easy. Just embrace our program. And don't ask for more than we are offering...

Jim

Now that's a difficult one. You've kept on amazing us, bringing huge leaps of improvements if not revolutions and now you expect us calm down?

Very unreasonable, sir.

Please, invent some more of that.

... We only ask you to be a great customers. Fair deal?

It is more than a fair deal. I think RED has provided an unprecedented amount of incentives and listened to what customers need that it would be difficult to find a better suplier in film in dustry or any industry for that matter. It is a real pleasure to be a customer.

I look forward to new and groundbreaking products. :cheers2:

I'd be a greater customer and cam operator with a REDcam. ;)

Call me RED Europe !

If we stop asking, where's the incentive for Red to go above and beyond all expectations? Just look at the evolution of Epic since it was announced. Maybe I misunderstood your point, but do you really just want us to shut up and be fan boys? That's certainly not why I'm here. That said, I'm counting down the days to NAB and can't wait to see what's up Red's sleeve!

I'm sure this was meant only in relationship to the upgrade program, not general development of Red and its product offerings!

It doesn't take a huge time commitment to stay up to date here. When I'm cranking on a heavy shoot or deadline, one can leave for weeks but still come back to this essential resource. I'm repeating myself here, but I believe this forum is the heart of the entirely new business model Jim is pioneering - direct web based communication from manufacturer to customer without wholesalers and middlemen. It will be interesting to see how this changes when the Scarlet comes out in numbers that dwarf the Red One user community.

Yes, there are many flavors of Redusers, from seasoned veterans to aspiring Scarleteers. And even though the "awesome, dude" posts occasionally fill up threads, I've learned a tremendous amount, even after thirty years in the industry. Ask David Mullen, one of the busiest guys I know.

Yes, being here and keeping up to date is definitely part of my job. It's a different way of doing things. Not for everyone, and evidently even more challenging for those who are uneasy with the english language. That's why I believe there will always be room for the other, more traditional way of doing things, through distributors, dealerships... Two different models.

That said, a few more localized service centers will certainly help things as Red grows bigger. In the meantime I'm extremely thankful for Red Europe.

Jim, quite frankly...it's more than a fair deal...i'm glad your happy as no matter which way you look at it if anything has to be said your getting the 'RAW' deal:)

We only ask you to be a great customers. Fair deal?

Jim

Sure.

I think there are a few of them around, both here, and quite a few not as vocal as me.

I recently was in Belgrade visiting Living Pictures with a lot of RED features under their belt, and a commercial record in numbers in the Dino region. Not as high profile, as it is in Eastern Europe, but still praying to get their Ms as soon as possible, serving a huge region as they are.

Around me, the REDs are rolling 7 days a week, despite deliveryissues on media and other hardware.

Why do I mention that?
Well, because we have to work around that.
But we do.
Because we're super happy with the images.
That's a good customer, isn't it?

I do not think it is being a good customer to go into denial, though. Better then to know your tools and the practical situation, and adapt. Make it work and give it your best.
I know we might not be in total agreement on this, which I think is kind of funny, as I am known as the total diehard RED geek around here... :-)

I think the point you made of which cameras have been released and deemed obsolete in the timespan of the RED ones shelf-life is one of the most important. And many more cameras could easily be added to that list. For those hailing the F3, I'd ask them to redo my skintone exposure bracketing test with that tool... Without even approaching the resolution issue.

In my book, knowledge is always good, as that makes you a better craftsman. The best thing you can do is: Make things work at their best. The worst thing you can do is to go into denial or blaming your results on your tools.

I am anxiously looking foreward to using the Epics as much as the next man.

Congratulations on the revolution so far... Wish I could have come to NAB.

Cheers!

Gunleik
