  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

There's no real news on anything from Red available right now, except that there's still no end in sight for the delays, and that there are some new products on the horizon.

The only thing my rep told me about my Scarlet-W is that it's going to be "a while."

Hey man I'm a minute after you December 10 my rep told me today that they don't know of shipping dates at all for my time. He also said they would know a little more about it at the end of next month that being end of August. Looks like to me that scarlet w pure orders on the first few days might just might get the camera in 2016 everyone else will be 2017. What a disaster this has been for us all hoping for this camera since February 2016 shipping estimate.
 
i feel like i should put a deposit on something else to get me in line for the next thing.

id wish for a S35 Helium 4KHD.

Holy cow. That's crazy. Well, it is what it is, I suppose. There aren't really any other cameras out there that I'd want to invest in, so I guess I'll just keep using my FS7 and wait for the Scarlet-W ship to come in.

They started using custom lines for CMOS sensors long time ago, to get greater quality. So yes, they did do cheaper small lab lines in sensor companies. However, the smallest geometries and best quality is nothing to be sneezed at. So it sounds doubtful they are doing it in house (but if they were somehow supplying other manufactures, it might be something).
 
Observationally, what was the net gain of dealer order vs RED Direct?

I do consider myself a RED optimistic, but the monthly updates are demonstrating not to be a meaningful business forecasting instrument.
 
There doesn't seem to be of am advantage either way if you have an early timestamp. If you have a later one or haven't ordered yet, a dealer is probably a better bet.

Either way though, Scarlet-W preorders haven't moved in three months. It doesn't sound like that's going to change anytime soon.

I had to unfollow the Raven group on Facebook. Was getting sad seeing all the new cameras and footage coming in, meanwhile it seems the S-W is a myth. Maybe we can get a "month of S-W" like the Raven folks got?
 
I emailed my rep and got bad a terrible response, telling me nothing. Said the SW's are still on the early December allocations. which I believe is the same spot they were at before THE MONTH OF THE RAVEN happened many moons ago. :scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared::scared:

Im an October pre-order raven switcher to the SW and I have not been allocated. They better not be up to December.

I'm still hopeful... Jarred repeated again on this thread that the Fall date is still good. The web site still says orders placed today will ship in the Fall, while the Raven page was changed to say Early 2017. So, I'm still hopeful.

But, there's also been a mention of a new sensor: Helium. Just a guess, but if I were RED, and I were about to announce new cameras with new sensors, specially if there was a Scarlet version of such cameras, I'd say that we should hold off on shipping Scarlet-Ws until the announcement, otherwise there might be a lot of people wanting to return them. I know...hopeful thinking :).

I can assure you of two things:

1- The cameras are worth the wait.
2- RED will solve any issues they are having. I guarantee they are burning the midnight oil to do so.

Good catch on the Raven page update. That feels more interesting to me as they updated expected ship dates and the Fall 2016 has remained for S-W.

Keep in mind everyone, December 20th is still Fall 2016...
