  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thanks Rafa and Tom... mostly Canon 8-15mm with some 16-35mm. I have the 10-17mm but the reversal of focus orientation bugs me. Sigma 15mm will be on there when I get my dragon upgrade. I say that as I find myself framing too tightly from time to time if I have the zoom.

My Lens gear for the Canon 24-70mm is on it's way to me now, I think that might be good for my Fiji dives next year. I like the 8-15mm, but apparently it has even less working range with Dragon so I suspect I might just go with the Sigma. Time will tell. Nauticam is very good at making lens gears in short runs so i'm lucky in that respect. Next up I need a bigger dome port :D

Rafa and Simon- great reels at the extremes of the lens spectrum. Great to see both your reels to start this year off.

effort that it takes to do what we do with big fat checks and many golden statuettes!

I'm sure others in the forum have either talked or messaged Rudi...as i did and right now he's says he's not ready to come back and if he wanted to he'd make the effort. So i think either he's done with RU or busy like most of us....Yes, he's missed, but sadly things have come to quite the slow down in our thread as have most other threads. I'm sure there will be a heated discussion coming soon enough. And we all know Rudi can stand up to the heat and if he wanted to come back right now, he'd get it done.

what more can anyone say about Rudi? I think if Rudi wanted to be here, he'd have made an effort and i talked to him by skype/email and he was not interested. So i think that's about it...Do i think he should have been banned? I did not follow all the posts nor do i recall them now...but no. Sure, i stand up for Rudi or hold my flag for him...but i'd bet either most of us were not paying attention to this forum at the time--hence my email to you or just plain busy. I dont think it's a point to get all worked up about right now...Same with Pawel...i think both are likely done with this form and don't care to come back. If Rudi told me to go to bat for him..i'd do so.

Is it unjust? Probably....again, no time to investigate, but Rudi is always a stand up guy and says what he thinks. I doubt Rudi is disrespectful. I think nothing here has to do with our abilities, but basically if we have time to be here. I think the Ruidi thing has sailed though...and i'll bet if you talk to Rudi, he's busy and no time to deal with it and likely dont care right now. Bigger fish to fry....so, Hell yeah RUDI--you are a LEGEND and a GIANT for saying what you feel...and should not be banned. That what was needed....?
I'm going to go back to backing potatoes now....me no back down from anyone/anything. At least not today.
 
Damn... Rudi banned. I know Pawel was taken out for some understandable reasons but frankly, I remember that being a mistake for the overall health of our thread. Lotta guys cheered at his dismissal but I didn't. He was a contributor. It's been so silent in these waters. Two summers ago, this was the most popular thread on RU. There is still a ton of interest in shooting RED underwater and we have certainly lost some steam. Good for the guys that choose their own path, that got busy and hopefully occasionally share. This thread is somewhat of a spring board for those who want to push themselves to another level.

I remember when Johnny was putting together his Rocket setup to begin editing and coloring his footage. Now he's too busy living his dream it appears. Great to you and your hard work Johnny, I've always liked you and appreciate when you do come around. It's more than any friend could hope for.

I think a little turbulence is good for us. I reached out to Jarred, asked him to make peace with Pawel and solve the magenta issue with him. He mentioned it would be a hard pill to swallow and looks like he never did. Instead he's developed a OLPF designed for us. I'm not sure if that's the solution Pawel figured out for himself and ransomed, probably so. Despite having the sharpest images and MTF count, Pawel's titanium Nikonos len housing seems to have vanished into an abyss. Doubtful to resurface, though I wish it would.

Why was Rudi banned? What was he speaking up about, against? Who banned him?

This is not a place of worship, this is OUR forum. Without our diversity, debates, tinkering there would not be a forum.
