  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The Gentleman's Underwater Bubble Blower Thread

Oh wow Jon! I love everything about that piece!

The visual story telling is phenomenal with gorgeous photography. Brilliant work sir.

This is very different from normal free diving as there is very little time to 'breath up' and prep for the dive. When shooting whales especially this late in the season they were mostly on the move myself and Lucas would jump in the water, swim hard to get into position then I would dive to get off the bumpy surface and then he would to get into frame etc. Most of these dives were only 1-2mins but he can do 4-5min dives and I think 6-7min static. He's pretty good, waaaay better than me ;)

Mercedes spot, very impressive Jon, congrats.

Just curious, were those GoPro drone aerials, or did you have a Heli mounted stabilized Epic platform?

Hard to tell, most GoPro aerials exhibit rolling shutter artifacting, don't see any of that.

I hit a wall at about 1 minute swimming underwater and two minutes static. I'd like to break through that one day. For now I can admire what you guys are doing and appreciate the results. Thank you for sharing, such beautiful footage, such beautiful creatures.

Will, if you want to break through to a level you never thought possible try Kirk Krack's course (Preformance Freediving). He sometimes does classes in Monterey thought the ones in Kona and Florida are a bit warmer :)

Cheers Matt, thanks for the reference.

Hi Guys,

I´ve read about the insurance panorama earlier in the post. Anyone have some new insight on insuring a RED against flooding in Europe? I see some of you succeeded in the US and others in Australia but I am inPortugal and finding it simply impossible to get an insurance covering flooding. And to make it worse even DAN H20 only works in the US. Any suggestions? I got some companies covering theft and damage but not flooding.

All the best, Nuno.

Try Kat Wong. I am in the US, I'm not sure she'd be stopped by boarders.

Here is a link to the thread I put together. She has covered me for when I shoot around water.

Kat was nice enough to send me a polite email saying she can't insure out of the US. Things don´t look very goof for UW shooters in Europe looking for insurance. Also tried Apparatuur but they say Netherlands only. Waiting on Cynosure (ex FIUA) but guessing they will say Australia only.

Have you tried a broker, mine has sourced gear insurance, public liability (which is pretty complex with underwater / scuba / rebreather / sharks etc etc) plus my workers comp and it has all been very reasonable. I'm based in Australia but the insurer is Cinesure and Action Insurance

try this email. company based in germany. this is an email from my agent there, he is super cool and they do all sorts of productions insurence: zeller@erpam.com
