  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The 007 Thread

Mark, don't forget to test the coverage on the 18mm RPP. At only $3,000 for a Battle-Tested lens, it has to be the best deal on glass anywhere. It is actually the only lens I own at the moment so I'm very curious and hoping the different 5K modes are all covered.

Jarred tested and posted... 18mm RPP covers full 5K even with Mattebox.

Wow. Just wow.

Thanks Mark,

RED ONE MX... all shot on the RED 18 to 50.. which everyone kept telling was crap.. WRONG!!!

And everyone said you cant shoot RED in the snow, without blowing it out... WRONG!!!

To be honest. I didn't even worry about the exposure that much. Just shot as I saw it through a polarized EVF that was shitting itself in the cold conditions.

This shoot sold it for me. RED was delivering more then film. I have shot these same scenarios on 35mm a dozen times and always had blown out highlights. In this case I had none.. If I could show you the final 4444 master, you can seriously see all the individual snow crystals on the ground.

I just thought I'd post this to show the person that was curious about RED in snow.
I'm sure the EPIC is even better!

Since then we have shot in pitch blackness, only using kids with flash lights and ambient light.. No grain at all, the final looked way brighter than what it did on the night.
It's a pity this crap H264 does not let you see deep enough into the colors, but still it was impressive just to be able to shoot with available light and some 2 dollar torches.

There was no way in hell I could have done this shoot with 800asa film stock without some serious grain issues and clogged blacks.
For me.. RED killed 35mm about 8 months ago.

But I love film still... but... cant use it anymore. It's had its time for me. It's been a good ride.

The new EPIC you have must be f_____g awesome. if it's that much better than the REDONE MX.

So can't wait till ours turn up.

Mark, just to clarify, the original thread suggested it was shot on the Mysterium sensor, not the MX, is that correct?

The Helicopter snow ad was M
the Night kids Milk ad was MX.

To be honest, I never had any issues with the M chip with any of our shoots, But the MX chip is much better.
If M was all we got from, I would have lived with it and been very satisfied.

You may have seen this, but this TVC was M chip.
Hot bright days. Dark interiors.. it didn't miss a thing.

I do remember seeing that one before, it was great then and it's still a wonderful ad. You and your work make strong, valid points about the original sensor, namely, it's no dog. I have a hunch there will be more owners holding on to their R1 cameras, M or MX, in today's economy because they realize it's still up to the challenge. Give a man who knows what he's doing the proper tools and he can work magic. As Mark Twain said, "The report of my death was an exaggeration".

I am sooo with you on this Mark

I have finnished about 7 hours of M footy in november/december, and it's amazing.

The fact that MX is more sensitive, does not take any of the glory away from M.

This seems to be easily forgotten, but actually to me, the low mass and the full-frame high-speed are the two most imprtant improvements with Eoic.

Then the rest is just added bonus!

Mark, your work is consistently gorgeous. I understand why you're not shooting features; to get to make pictures like that in a movie will never happen in Australia - but it's a bloody shame. I think there's a place for you in Hollywood though...

BTW, watching the soccer clip with Warren Eagles looking over my shoulder. STOP THERE! he says and points to his mug in the crowd! I hope he's bringing the beer ;-)
