  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

The 007 Thread

So - two Epic Ms delivered to one client in almost two months. What's the hold-up?

All the M's are probably going to those big budget 3D films in the works. Oh well, as long as it isn't the US military hogging them all.

Quite possibly - in a naive moment I must have thought RED would honor the original queue with the reservation holders of the Epic-X. I guess Peter Jackson can afford 30 EPIC-Ms at $56K each.

Nope. Early reservation holders only get special consideration. And don't forget about all the other blockbusters including the unnamed biggies.

Can't really blame 'em though...

I believe the M's were to be made available to whoever wanted them, in order of R1 serial number (or purchase date), in whatever numbers they could muster, until the production Epics started to roll out. I'd say the overwhelming response from big budget 3D productions has taxed Momma's kitchen to the limit. It's all good for the rest of us. The more big guys get to shoot on these, the better sorted they'll be when we get ours. Plus, we'll be able to list off all these big movies shot on our little camera.

delivery of epic-x really starts when shawn gets his cam.
or maybe the big surprise is that they already will have 4000+ epics ready to ship by NAB.
this would be nice.....
but like yoda said, be patient young padawan, be patient

I'm patient... It's not like I could afford an EPIC-M anyway - I'm just curious because I think it's pretty odd that only Offhollywood has an EPIC-M by now. Or maybe nobody is telling. I would have expected to see lots of test footage by now and so far I've only seen stills and short clips.

i cant afford an Epic M too...actually i believe they will start to roll out the epic-x somewhere in the next 6-12 weeks and skip the epic M's.
dont know why only mark did get his epic-m, gibby should get one too.
but the rest? dont know.

The M's are probaly rolled out to a lot of studio users. If not, the big prohects wouldn't have gone for them.

I'm with Shane. The desire from desireable users just overexploded.

Good for us all in the long term.

Mark's had two and Gibby's was in transit a week or so back I think - so he should have his by now. Three out of 8,000 ain't so bad

One short question to Mark P. Don't know if that was asked before...
How is the cooling noise / fan noise noticeable, specially when the cam is running long and or in a warmer place/studio ??
Did you test the HDR function and what results did you see, how was working with HDR?

thx
rainer
