I see a lot of people tweeting about Ted leaving RED. Anyone know if this has any truth to it or not?

What?

As a REDucation veteran, I will always be indebted to Ted for his passion for the brand and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

He was my teacher at Reducation...hope for all the best in your next endeavour, and please don't stop being some part of red even if not in an official way.
take care and be well

While working at RED may be very exciting, it's also requires a huge commitment of time and energy - not to mention all the travel and his health. Perhaps he just wants more time to do other things, like spend time with his family, etc. IAC, may the force be with you Ted.

Cheers - #19

Crazy... So Jim is taking a step back from the front lines, Ted is taking off... Poor Jarred; I thought he didn't sleep already.

I've always enjoyed listening/watching Ted speak about RED at shows and such. IMO, Ted's always been a great ambassador for RED and speaks of the products with great energy. I know he's gotten me pumped a few times in the past. Hate to see him go but I wish him the best!

His distinctive style and voice will be missed.

The first wave of RED pioneers is probably pretty exhausted. They just squeezed about 25 years' worth of innovation into a 7 year span. But Nature abhors a vacuum. I'm sure a second wave will come along.

天下没有不散的筵席 - all good things will come to an end. When RED was a relative unknown, he was like the lone crusader traveling to any corner of the world giving whatever support needed to help the early adopters keep faith in the camera. Ted is the window to RED from our side of the planet. I wish him all the best and is always welcome to our homes whenever he calls. Lim

There's something fishy going on. Ted leaving RED like this out of the blue doesn't sound right - something must be up.

Perhaps he sees that his work is done. Red is now well established in the market, perhaps he feels he's done his part and wants to move on to new adventures.

We wish Ted the best. Change is healthy for everyone, both in business and in person, and just as RED enters a new period, so must some of our original horsemen.

To Ted,

Those are the highest words of praise I know.

My father was a strict but fair main who is imbued with the honesty and the work ethic that was common in his generation.

I knew that I had achieved a very high bar when I heard those words for the first time.

People seem to quickly forget the incredible technical innovation that RED has achieved. Most remarkably RED was able to fundamentally reset the economics of an entire industry and thus effectively democratize the creative process at the same time. Such significant accomplishments can get lost in the hurly burly of our business but I am confident that history will record the paradigm shift that RED and its leaders have accomplished, and credit that work appropriately.

While that sweeping change was delivered on the back of advances in technology, technology in and of itself isn't what changes history, people do.

I'm characterized by technical optimism. I bet big on what I see as the best answer, but that in and of itself is not sufficient to drive change. I owned a Beta VCR, how well did that work out for me :-)

Incredible innovation comes from the minds of passionate people. Those people make great sacrifices to deliver great products, but ultimately someone needs to be the ambassador, the evangelist, the counselor to help build an understanding in the community that there is a better way to work and work with them to allay fears, and help them begin anew.

Your work at RED had been foundational to product adoption and in fundamentally resetting the way movies are made.

RED couldn't have achieved that without you.

I'm proud to have lent a hand here and there and to count you as a friend.

As you move on to the next chapter of your life please know that I am but one of the many who has valued your work and your friendship, and I am confident that you have many exciting adventures ahead.

My sincerest best wishes my friend, you are a good man that does good work.

Stephen
