  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ted leaving RED?

There's something fishy going on. Ted leaving RED like this out of the blue doesn't sound right - something must be up.

Just because you just found out doesn't mean it's "out of the blue" or "fishy". Sometimes it's just time for change. He's got a wife and two kids that are tired of skype'ing with him. I've been friends with Ted for years before RED, he's a great guy and he will do more great things. I'm excited for his next venture. These public forums tend to make drama when there really isn't any.

Ted's one of the nicest and most exuberant folks I've met in the last few years. He's also one of the first people I met and spoke with in the Red world. I've seen some of his camera operating work and I'm hoping he'll still be an avid shooter in his new future efforts after working at (and championing) Red for so long.

Between the Red launch and development, informing others about the cameras, trade shows, interviews, and the massive worldwide Reducation movement he's been one busy fellow.

Hard to imagine a Red world without him, but he's laid down some extremely sturdy foundation and certainly is leaving a big hole that will be difficult to fill.

Cheers Ted. You've done a hell of a job.

Ted is, and always will be, the face of RED for me. He was one of the first I people I ever talked with at RED and he taught me well at REDucation. He has shown incredible stamina as he has constantly travelled the globe evangelizing RED.

I couldn't do his job for a week...and he has done it tirelessly for almost a decade. My hat is off to Ted, I wish him nothing but the best, and hope he finds as much excitement, happiness and satisfaction in his next venture as he clearly did at RED!

Best Wishes Ted.

It's funny. I have never met Ted, but I feel like I know him. I hope someday I get the chance to meet him.

Can't help but wonder why he is leaving... hmmm. It makes me nervous too. Wish we knew more. Oh well, wishing him the best and RED too!

Cheers Ted. You're a good guy and were the public face of Red in so many forums, the company no doubt will miss you but family's the most important thing going. Glad you'll get to spend time with them -- it's the one thing you can't get back. Best of luck!

Ted told me to buy a red at NAB in such a way that made me go... OK yeah. Sure.... and the next day I did. Guy has some crazy voodoo powers.

Let me be clear.... Ted has been the ambassador of RED since Day zero..... He has been travelling non stop for almost 7 years. he has a family. He has children. He has a life. He did what he set out to do.

He is a friend and a colleague . He created RedUcation and Red Camp..... I get it. He needs to come up for air. It is not some "indication" that there are issues at RED. On the heels of Jim's announcement I find it only an indication that with Dragon they are all at a point that they have a camera that is at the forefront of digital cinema tech.

Please wish Ted the best and do not read more into it than that.....

I will remain close friends with Ted and his family forever.....

It is all good....

Peter

Agreed, Things change and its not always because of negative things, change is and can be positive. lets not make this a negative issue.
Wish Ted well on his new ventures and know that you will see him again w very exciting things.

Peter/Ted.

This is so important to remember for impatient achievers...

Having worked myself out of family and relations, because what I do felt som important was (evn though on a totally different scale than what Teds impact has been), ultimately a very bad choice.

In the end, little is more important to me than following my children to school, arrange a birthday or sit down and watch a movie or reading at their bedside.
And the realisation of that, even a bit too late for some relations, has really been an important one.

The other side is the pure preasure.

Not pretending to know anything about anything, but people need to duck up and breath at times.

Even if they go on to change another aspect of the world as we know it after a small break.

Best of luck and many thanks to Ted and those who have supported him!

This is an extract of what I wrote directly to TED, and what I wish to share here also....

"Ted,
has been an absolute great pleasure been contaminated by your positive energy via RED, and while saddens me to see you depart RED, I wish nothing but the absolute best in life and in your next venture..."

A Great big THANK YOU to Ted!!! Your work and teachings has influenced many and your dedication, work ethic and drive inspires us all!!!

I've email Ted directly on receipt of his email and I'll leave those words just between Ted and myself, although I would like to public ally wish Ted all the best for his future endeavours. He has been the "face" of RED for as long as I can remember. He's been nothing short of an amazing guy and someone I can call a friend.

All the best Ted!

Steve

it would take me hours to write what i truly think of ted and how he has helped me navigate the landscape that has evolved at red, so instead i just want to simply say thank you in this forum for everything you have done for me and my family. i am certain this experience would have been quite different without you around as the voice of reason to us all externally and i am sure internally.

i wish you the best of luck and i am sure i will probably be seeing you actually more now...which is a very good thing....from what i know, ted has gone non-stop for probably a good 15 years and in the middle of all of that literally got ripped open and brushed it all off and just kept on trucking, truly inspirational.

i will see you soon my good friend, perhaps in 15 years we will have to stop and think about how we met as i am certain too that your next act will be as eventful and meaningful as this one, thus putting this chapter in the rearview mirror, onward and upward brother.

dino

p.s. ballmer is leaving Microsoft, go throw your hat in that ring...im certain you could help them.
