  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Spider-man on EPICs...

The costume looks quite good even if I think it has some bizarre design elements.

I'm not a big fan of Spiderman (meaning I have not read too much spidey comics, I like the character a lot) but I'm looking forward to see that movie... Maybe because the word "epic" is attached to it... ^^

(...but I even know the big word today (after being "broadcast", "digital" and "HD") is "3D", I am so borred by the fact that it will be released that way. I don't find (yet ?) 3D so attractive and would prefer to see a good 2D digital or film screening... Which today in France is more and more and more and mooooore difficult !)

Nice picture. I always liked the Ben Reilly spidey outfit. I love he being skinny and not bodybuilded with a solid muscled costume.

I can't wait to see it... in 2D to enjoy the movie first. And then in 3D, to enjoy the Epic. This is the marvel zombie in me speaking.

I still cannot get past that these guys are doing a REBOOT of a SUCCESSFUL movie that's less than three years old.

Jay

Did you not see the third movie? ;)

EDIT: Odd, Jay's post seems to have disappeared! Oh well.

Jay, I agree it seems kind of ridiculous, but at the end of the day it's a pop film… not to mention, one of the reasons I can't get into mainstream superhero comics is because with comics, they reboot A LOT, have alternate universes, and it seems to be very "anything goes" as far as continuity. I had a comic-obsessed friend growing up so I was kept in the loop to some extent, but reading the Wikipedia articles to any of those major franchises or characters is still dizzying.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that—in fact, my point is that if they can make a better movie, or one that is different and good in its own right, I say more power to them. Maybe I'd feel differently if I was a big fan of the previous movies, but the only superhero movie I've been head over heels for is The Incredibles. I'm so hard to please…

Reboots are better than pointless remakes. I still can't understand why, for instance, anyone would remake a movie like Get Carter. The original was great and it's not like they needed to add special effects that weren't feasible at the time or anything like that.

Woo Hoo. Another Spiderman film. :sarcasm:

No Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, instead they've chosen Andrew Garfield (Eduardo Saverin, "Social Network").
...but Rhys Ifans (Spike, "Notting Hill") stars as the Lizard, so maybe some comedy edge?

Many theaters started with 2K but will switch over to 4K as quick as we switched from 720P to 1080P TVs.

There is going to be a large adoption of DCP 4k in the film exhibition arena "Coming Soon to a theatre near you" in 2011 As an example of exhibitors widely adopting this standard, see http://www.barco.com/en/pressrelease/2554/
(Empire Theatres is the second largest film exhibitor in Canada) Cineplex Odeon is supposed to be doing a large DCP rollout in 2011 as well but using Christie projectors.
By the time Epic is released and we all get ours + complete any production we have standing in the wings, there will be ample screens capable of showing off the glorious pictures taken. By the time Spiderman is released we all can probably find a 4K screen not too far away to watch it on. I can't wait to see the results of an Epic on my all-time favorite superhero! :lurk5:

Wow, you can tell even from that how much smaller the rig is than say the rig used on Pirates or other 3d movies... it's so small, if you didn't know better you might think it's a regular 2d rig!
WOW! I watched that clip and completely forgot they were even shooting 3D. You'd never know that was a 3D rig from how small it looked on the Ultimate Arm. Amazing!
