In an early post in this thread you mention grinding down a front element. I assume this was the upper and lower edges of the front element of the speedbooster group. Was this necessary to achieve clearance within the DSMC1 throat?
There also seems to be a vertical offset of the optical centre relative to the rectangular shape of the caddy you built. Was this driven by need to clear electrical conductors or other parts within the DSMC1 throat?

This is awesome.
Side question: does anyone know if there would be harm is getting the VV Canon mount if we only have a S-35 camera (Weapon Mg 6K here).

There may already be a special OLPF accessory for the RED camera family which includes a contrast filter so there may not be any point trying.
I wouldn't think there would be issue with you buying a VV Canon mount from RED. They might have a limited amount right now and only sell them to VV FF camera owners until they get the orders out that have been waiting for their VV Monstro sensors... Check with your Bomb Squad rep.
Im very curious about this also. If the vv canon mount is compatible with all the other dsmc and dsmc2 cameras that would be great for this project.
My rep just told me they're in-stock, but won't be compatible with our S35 sensor cameras because of the spacing of the mount?

Don't mean to poo-poo on that theory, but given that the sensors on cameras is about to become swappable (between s35 and VV sensors), they better be compatible or that's some serious oversight/design-flaw happening.
Certainly there are a bunch of RED users that have both cameras and could quickly test it out. Also, the ABT one uses the VV mount AND VV OLPFs for compatibility, so I'm thinking/hoping the rep is just confused.
I think it would be nuts if it didn't function. They might just be saying not compatible as the s35 mount is designed to shield light on the s35 sensor etc and using the VV on the S35 might introduce some unwanted flare or spill on the S35 sensor. So if thats all it is then great. handy if someone could throw on the s35.

That's just nonsense- sorryMy rep said:
"It's more about of the spacing between the lens mount and the sensor. They expose a different size of the sensor. The VV Canon Mount is intended for the VV Sensor while the S35 Canon Mount is intended for the S35 Sensor.
But yes they are also equipped for different lenses."
Does this download work for the red epic dragon 6k? or is it for the epic helium? Thanks!
Unfortunately, the caddy is designed for the tool-less/quickrelease of DSMC2 OLPFs. But as James mentioned, he was able to get it working on his DSMC1 Dragon initially (albeit a less elegant/streamline solution than this one).
Personally, I'd still be into getting an easy/safe DSMC1 solution, but I think everyone else is passed it... Especially since cameras like a Pocket6k with Magicbooster would likely be the same price as just a DSMC mount anyway (RED VV 6k Dragon would be totally awesome, but not worth $3k for *just* a focal reduced mount).
