  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Some Guy On YouTube Says RED ONE Actually Pixel Shifts.....

Even if this guy was right, does it really matter? When it comes down to it, the camera makes amazing images at a lower price point than any camera of it's kind. So, in the end, who cares?
 
I care about factual accuracy, and that video is not factually accurate.

I DP'd these two.

I've also shown people the "jello effect" of RED's rolling shutter doing that whip pan thing and vertical objects and they just stare at me, blankly - they can't see it.

If he was right, it wouldn't matter, but he's incorrect :)
 
It would seem the majority of people who talk trash about Red fall into one of these three catergories:

1.Want a Red, but do not think they can ever attain one (and therefore- they lash out).
2.Already spent at least 20x the amount on something else that doesn,t work as well.
3.Own a digital camera company.

Wallander needs to be on the list twice. There was the BBC/Kenneth Branagh 3 episode miniseries and the one Geoff Boyle was involved with, which was in the native Swedish.

It's not worth RED's time to deal with guys like this. It's they're duty to make all the correct info available and then it's our job as a community to make sure incorrect concepts like these don't spread.
 
I certainly don't understand the whole bayer pattern technology, however, I've seen red footage and it looks fantastic. Which just so happens to be how I decide what is good camera tech. The fact that Red is also affordable is an absolute thrill.

How much do I need to save to buy a Panavision Genesis? Have those bad boys come down in price yet?

It's very unfortunate that there is this type of mis-information floating around out there. Truly RED is not loosing business from this guy, not much at least, but he's potentially creating non-believers.... for bogus reasons. That's no good.

yeah, things like this are not so helpful: "I don't know what is more pathetic about this video. That you are a fat guy with a nerdy t-shirt talking about pixels. Or that you actually spent the time shooting a video where you drone on in total ignorance putting down a camera that thousands of people are making a living with every day... Get a life, brother."

By the way, I doubt that the youtube poster of this video is same guy who's IN the video. The language in the description is WAY harsher than anything said in the actual video.
