Shot on Carbon Weapon: 60 Days In S2 Promo

Hey gang, here's a shoot we did a couple of months ago! Shot on Carbon Weapon @ 6K...on SKINTONE OLPF at 1280 and 1600. With a Contax 85mm MMJ 1.4 (at f2).

I was blown away by how CLEAN Weapon was, even on Skintone!

And these guys were lit with just ONE Tungsten Bulb!

This cut was straight from the dailies - wish had a chance to do a final grade! But still think some of the shots came out pretty good.

For those of you that don't know, 60 Days In is a SUPERB reality drama on A&E, that documents REAL PEOPLE volunteering to go to jail...so they can help provide feedback and help improve America's correctional system.

Understandably, the critics and fans have responded really favorably...and at Small Giant we're proud to have been filming promos for this since S1!

We shot this in a TINY ROOM (and I mean tiny)...maybe 15x10...so we had limited room...but wanted these ints to feel like an interrogation...so my DP, gaffer and I talked to client about a single bulb approach...which they dug.

Id have to ask Seth our gaffer, but it was either a 1K bulb in a Mogul Base inside a bare chimera, or we actually have a massive bare Tungsten filament bulb we use sometimes (cuz of shadows it gives). I'll ask my guys and get back to you as Im seeing them later this morning!

It sure did click...at least for me. It reminds me a bit of the presidential candidate shots that CNN had done. CNN Though, in these spots...they moved the light in an interesting way....all good.

I love those spots!!! Ive made a mental note of those too! The moving light is such a great idea!!
